I'm sure I remember an interview with Muse last year in which Muse said they wouldn't be playing R/L in 2009 but would definitely be up for it in 2010? Gotta be a dead cert for the festival if this is the case, surely? FR wouldn't miss an opportunity to get one of the biggest bands out there on the bill..

playing Glastonbury (not a UK exclusive)
playing UK summer Gigs (same reason for no Green Day)
glad to have sorted that out.

Muse are playing a festival in Poland on the 21st of August. Surely they can not be denied just yet
It made me raise an eye brow, but still im clutching at straws here.

They're playing 2 stadium shows in Manchester the week after R/L and 2 Wembley Stadium dates the week after that. They will not be at Reading/Leeds.

I just can't imagine them headlining Glastonbury and Leeds, it just doesn't seem right for some reason. Its not fair haha.
Has anyone else headlined both in the past?

Arctic Monkeys only headlined last year.
They did there own arena (not stadium) tour after R&L but this was not announced until after R&L had taken place.
Bands do not want to jepordise selling out their own tour, which in one sold out night, at any stadium is worth more to them than there appearance fee for two gigs at reading and leeds.

Arctic Monkeys played stadium shows about 2 weeks after R/L last year. Or at least arenas.

Jumped in with two feet there.
I did my homework before my post, and just checked thier tour history.
Plus I should know because I went to see them in Newcastle, and I was debating weather to buy a ticket after their dull display(good musically) at Leeds. Decided to go thinking maybe it was a one off never having seen them before.
Wish I had never bothered now. £35 or so quid which I could have used to spend on beer...

I'd love it.
But it's very unlikely

Muse will play R/L in 2011 as it seems most logical - can end their album touring over that weekend like how they did for V in 2008 with the BH&R promotion, plus next year FR have a much better chance of getting them as a UK exclusive seeing as they won't be nearly doing as many summer festivals and stadium headline shows next summer compared to what they are doing this summer

Muse and Libertines were supposed to be playing this year, now it's next year? Huh...
