From my memory every year I have been, one band has been given a 2 hour slot. I dont think blink or arcade fire have headlined a major british festival while mcr ( I think )have headlined download once. I think even fans of these bands must admit they dont really fit into the "legendary" headliner category. I think all would struggle with a 2 hour slot. Does this mean this year the headliners will all get the 90 min slots and the second headliners will get a bit longer to make up for it?

Out of the three I reckon the 2 hours slot would go to Blink
None of them could really fill it convincingly i dont think

Yeah but Blink only had three songs or something?

You have a point. I think Blink-182 could do a two hour slot with ease, and whoever says they only have two or three good songs is clearly a moron
. I'll be highly surprised if Arcade Fire headline the main stage, but the NME headline slot would be perfect for them. My Chemical Romance are extremely poor live and although i can see them being a secondary headliner (at a push), i'll be gutted if they are given a main stage headline slot.
I want Blink 182, The Strokes and not really arsed about the third, as long as it isn't Linkin Park or someone along those lines.
Oh, and Soundgarden are sh!te, grunge died with Cobain.

Yeah but Blink were pants the last time they played Reading or something.

Even if that's true it doesn't matter. It'll be Blink's first show back in England for god knows how long and they'll be on top form to play a good 'un. Not only that but i'm one of thousands who'll attend Leeds knowing that they grew up on Blink, their music is the soundtrack to my younger years and i for one can't wait

Just watched a YouTube clip of them live at Reading, they look good to me!

To be honest, if there's nothing else on I'll probably watch them just to see the three songs we all know, the ones that get played on the radio. Hopefully they'll start with them
Seriously, last time they played Reading they were a lowlight. Stopping and starting songs, arsing about being complete plonkas... and I was really looking forward to them. At that point it was only two songs we knew.

I'd say a lot of people who arent huge fans know most of them songs. Which i'd say is a lot more that Arcade fire and MCR

Why stop there?!
Stay Together For The Kids, Dumpweed, Adams Song, Feeling This, The Party Song, Emo, Reckless Abandon, Another Girl Another Planet, M and M's, Dick Lips, Anthem, Anthem Part 2, Aliens Exist, Everytime I Look For You
That's a perfect 23 song set in total if they did all those, any of which i'd be more than happy to hear. Not to mention any new stuff they might play.

I grew up on Blink. Add in Green Day and Offspring and we'll be sorted

I think the only blink 182 songs that are really well known by non fans are all the small things, whats my age again, rock show and I miss you. They are the only ones that got any decent kind of airplay in the uk.

I know possibly only two Blink songs. However that's mainly cuz I don't choose to listen to an untalented, joke of a band for whom I have no respect musically whatsoever.
Unlike MCR who I just generally don't enjoy personally.

Also,Cobain was the public figure of grunge but far from the master.
