From my memory every year I have been, one band has been given a 2 hour slot.  I dont think blink or arcade fire have headlined a major british festival while mcr ( I think )have headlined download once. I think even fans of these bands must admit they dont really fit into the "legendary" headliner category.  I think all would struggle with a 2 hour slot. Does this mean this year the headliners will all get the 90 min slots and the second headliners will get a bit longer to make up for it?

If one of them gets it, id say Blink should, based on the amount of well known songs and size of back catalogue.

I think blink 182 would struggle to fill a 2 hour set with a festival audience . Most of their songs are pretty short and they would end up having to play a lot of material that a lot of the crowd hadnt heard of.  WHen you think about it the likes of kaiser chiefs, kings of leon, killers etc have never been given a set that long yet have had more hits thank blink. Im not sure they would even want a set that long, i think longer sets from the second headliner is more likley.

I'd imagine both Arcade Fire and MCR could fill 2 hours, wether they will or not is another thing.

This is a very good point, I don't believe any of the 3 could fill 2 hours, this maybe suggests that their will be someone better to fill the 2 hour slot, maybe above MCR or Arcade Fire

Blink wer playing 20-or-so songs on their tour. Not to mention they do a lot of talking. There were always a few songs that they changed. I think they wouldnt have to add all that much to take up 2 hours.

I am only saying they should get the hours out of these headliners though. Dont get me wrong, any other year, and they wouldnt stand a chance.

I have no doubt that they could play 2 hours to a load of blink 182 fans who own every album. However at a festival the majority of the crowd will probably only know the hits. I can only remember about 5 blink 182 songs that got decent airplay over here. They could probably fit them into 20 minutes which leaves a lot of time to fill with songs a lot of people dont know.
