So who do people think will take the top slots on the NME tent this year? With the so called headliners to be confirmed I feel its going to be a weak mainstage, maybe they could pull something out of the bag with NME headliners?
I think it seems likely to be something along the lines of:
Biffy Clyro
Hole
The Macabees
However, I'd like to push the boat out and maybe take a shot at We Are Scientists, they have a new album out in June and they have started doing one off London shows already so I at least think its a shout that they are playing.
Also maybe they will pull something like last years adventures of confirming Faith No More when Download had finished, maybe Them Crooked Vultures?
What do we think?

I would love:
Interpol, Placebo and Super Furry Animals. However I know that's as likely as a republican's opinion ever being worth noticing.
I expect it'll be something more like what the OP said.

The Specials headlining the NME tent would make me forget about the dodgy main stage headliners

Oh yeah, forgot they were there. Maybe The Streets then.

sure ive read somewhere that the specials would only play the TCT show.
Thats all they have booked for 2010, so that pretty much rules them out.

The Specials would be awesome. I don't know why but I don't think there is going to be any suprise "big" bands playing.
So I wouldn't be suprised if we get something shit like
The Streets, Hole and The Maccabees.
I can't see any act on the whole line up who will have the massive draw factor

Maccabees, Hole and would love Interpol but won't happen.

Maybe I'm not in touch with the whole NME thing, but are The Maccabees big enough to headline the Radio 1 now?
I see them a year or two ago in the middle of the day and they were boring as hell.
In a realistic and perfect world I'd take...
Hole..........The Specials........Biffy Clyro

Headlining NME Tour = slot wherever you want.

if they stick around (since the one time only gig is no longer a one time only gig) i'll put money on suede. Let's face it current nme bands arn't making the step up as quickly so they'll hark back to the past.

Are The Mars Volta still going?
I know it could totally go against what I just said about no suprise acts being flung on us but maybe they could play

Would be very pleased with Suede, I think they said R.A.H is their only gig though. Thinking about it, I could see Weller or The Specials doing one as well because the NME have picked them to hype up this year. As The Specials did Glasto last year, I could see them doing it, and Weller doing Glasto.
So it'll end up:
Maccabees (i'll learn how to spell it one day)/J.C
The Specials
???
Would be pleased with that.
