The best one (so far) was 2008. The weather was just right ( a god send following the previous years rain) and it was with a great bunch of peeps. Spent alot more time in exploring different areas such as the Park and Trash city and the atmosphere was amazing as always. Every year has it's unique memories

1994 or 1995. Too close to call. Ridiculously hot and sunny (give or take a wee bit of rain on the Sat in 94). The best line ups ever pretty much, soundsystems galore and all the real fun of Glasto back in those days and just the best atmosphere ever. And I wasnt even at 1994!

1992. My last and only visit.
Stupidly hot, no shade, no money, slept on bin bags.
Excellent times !

I have a toss up between 3.
95 coz I was 21, it was my first Glasto, splendid weather, a festival romance, Orbital ripped off my gourd.
02 - coz after being robbed blind in '98 I liked the feeling of security the new fence gave, again splendid weather, Dreadzone in the glade whilst ripped off my gourd.
03 - coz I spent a great deal of the festi with new friends, not bad weather, a glowstick fight in Kidney Mead and System 7 in the avalon tent whilst I was ripped (you get the picture...)

Last year, cos it was my first
The weather was fantastic once we'd got the storm out of the way, the entertainment was fab, and it was just the most memorable weekend of my life for all the best reasons

2009 because it's the first and only time I've been. Ask me again in July and I may change my answer.....

Perhaps this should be re-phrased as the best festival per decade?
Makes a wee bit more sense cos there are so many folk on here that only started going this century and those of us that went in the 90s love those years a lot and nothing post uberfence comes close to the super sunny days of the mid 90s. 94 and 95 were very very special indeed.
If its a Noughties Glasto I have to vote for...02 all the way. 80,000 people...LOVELY and very very sunny!

Last year was my only Glasto, but it was the best festival I've been to by some considerable distance, from the storm on the Friday morning to Shakey to Rolf Harris to Blur via dancing to Metronomy and spending Wednesday night/Thursday morning up at the Stone Circle with some brilliant people - can't beat it!

Yeah but its a personal preference, those who love the 90's glastos for their reasons as the 00's will have theirs own too.!

2000 was awesome, purely because it was so chaotic due to the attendance.
With well over 250,000 peeps onsite it truly was a 24/7 experience, with loads of sound systems & impromptu raves throughout the weekend - back when LV was new & fresh and the Astral Cafe used to be pumping out tunes well into Monday afternoon

1999 was my favourite, hot and sunny and the best line-up out of all those I've been to. Back in the days when I was a naughty fence jumper along with about half the people who went back then. A much more relaxed festival not dominated by the superfence or crawling so much with security. Lots of nudists in the green fields. Drugs sold a lot more freely and a lot better quality than what you get nowadays. REM's first glasto performance was awesome, massive stage invasion during Hole, Manics toiletgate scandal, Joe Strummer attacking the cameras with his mic stand and Skunk Anansie bring the festival to a scorching climax. Lazing on the grass under the tree by the stone circle surrounded by lovely people, excellent music and the scent of sandalwood joss sticks in a hash-induced daze, sun beams pouring through the trees is my favourite Glasto moment. Can remember it like it was yesterday. Only downside was the tent thieves, but since I had nothing worth stealing anyway they didn't trouble me.
Second best would be 2008. Leonard Cohen and Elbow, Arcade Fire and Bjork were amongst the best performances I've ever seen, along with discovering the awesome Mik Artistik, now to be seen playing in just about every small venue at some point during the festival.

1995 - wall to wall sunshine, sound systems, and proper pills. Dreadzone sampled John Major's resignation speech to huge cheers, and Orbital used an image of him with a red cross over his face during Satan.
1993 runs it a close second for The Orb's performance on the second stage, which was immense. They actually managed to light up the entire sky.
It was a sunny year too.

Another vote for 1995, too hot to sleep so everyone stayed up
Page/Plant, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Elastica and Veruca Salt was a dreamy line-up, to mention a few.
