Last year I was a veggie and found loads of lush stuff to munch (and cheap too!). In fact the veggie food was so nice my hubby has been vegetarian ever since.

I am now ovo-veggie (for anyone who is thinking WTF is that, a lot of people I know do, it means I eat a veggie diet but also eat no dairy products but still eat eggs)

This forum is usually excellent for knowing what to get where so can anyone help me get myself a little mental itinery of where to seek out suitable munch? The problem I mostly have is anything veggie is usually smothered in cheese or full of cream.

I want to get myself a little list ready so when I get hungry I don't get grumpy trying to find places to eat (yes I am one of those horrible people who gets stroppy when hungry).

Hope you can help!

Scarily enough veggies can eat most meat flavoured crisps.....how odd it that?

Vegans generally can't eat many crisps because they all have milk in them....which I think is even scarier.

I fecking Luuurve falafel Funkyfairy. Will hunt that out definately.

me too - have you guessed :-)

My two favourite meals at G last year- the aforementioned Falafel staff (left hand side of JP stage last year) and the breakie I had in greenfields (I think) - sat on the floor, boots off at the door, (vege again) - you could do the washing up for an hour to pay for your breakie

I know what you mean, with it being such a vast site it can be hard to find niche foods. I have a penchant for veal but am yet to chance upon some at Glastonbury.

Bravo on your meat free diet.

I find it staggering that people know precisely the conditions farmed animals live in, and exactly what goes on in slaughterhouses, yet continue to stuff their fat faces with artery clogging meat products.

Hey meat eaters, have a look at this, it'll be like porn for you: www.meat.org

You might not have had the thali, because a thali is a selection of curries, loads of different ones in small portions, also rice, pickles etc. Maybe you asked for the chick pea curry individually <shrug>?

But: that thali is awesome. I couldn't swear that it's vegan, but it's definitely likely. I think it's at the more expensive end of the food market. Maybe as much as £7.50, but well worth it.

There's was also a thali cafe at the edge of the tipi field last year.

Is it OK if I buy my meat from the winner of the 2008 Meat Buyer of the Year for Ethical Sourcing and Animal Welfare? (They bring me a monthly box of goodies. Works out cheaper than Tesco).

A lot of things you *think* have butter in them have no butter at all but a cheap vegetable substitute (that is actually very bad for you)

I make my pastry with soya spread and it turns out lovely actually.

Anyways I don't want this to turn into a justification of individuals personal choices thread, I get that every bloody day on a loop because people expect me to justify my choice not to eat dairy or they get the guilts on about eating meat and start telling me I am 'unnatural' etc.

Really it is your body, your life, your conscience, your choice. Eat what you like and I will eat what I like too. Obviously if I can make a few commited carnivores to try a bit of free range organic meat instead of thier usual factory farmed stuff and they start to make a slightly more ethical choices that makes me happy!

I just want to know where to find some awesome grub without traipsing about for ages when I am all moody with low blood sugars or have the munchies.
