ridiculous idea.

As oppose to people jamming all the roads as we have now, and the 5 mph crawl and three hours to do 5 miles to get in as last year ; Thats the ridiculous lovely..

Perhaps the police will need to have a 5 mile exclusion and passes checked at main towns(as happening now but more specific) people arriving without pass or with wrong pass will need to
turn around and rejoin queue

Common sense I think :P

How about guaranteeing that people who use PT will not get sniffed or searched. That would increase the numbers using PT :P

in seriousness though, I don't get trains because of the sniffers at paddington and castle Cary.

In all seriousness, I'm not a drug user, but the sniffer dogs at Reading on Glasto Travel Day make my blood boil. It's just rank opportunism by Thames Valley Police, to inflate their figures without actually tackling drug crime in their area in any constructive way.

It's an absolute disgrace, and a waste of manpower.

even at only 2 people per car
one bus only takes 20 cars off the road

A standard National Express coach has a capacity of 49 - So 24.5 cars at 2 per car.
They also have some larger coaches of 61 capacity.

But even at 20:1, 20 cars take a *lot* more road than one bus.

Were it possible, I bet the locals would love it if it was just buses. I guess if you live on one of the main routes, you just assume you can't get anywhere on the Weds, Thurs, or Mon.

You should see the BTP operation at Cambridge station for Stawberry Fair.

It dwarfs anything you'll see done for Glastonbury. Approx 100 officers, multiple dog teams, zig zag pedestrian filter gates, multiple search tents, mobile command centre, the lot. You queue to be sniffed/ picked for searching. You cannot leave without going through the system, although do let the occasional family out of the inspection pen.

In comparison, I find the one little waggy tailed dog at CC quite quaint in comparison. :P
