Damon Albarn has stated that Gorillaz are going to be playing UK gigs this summer, does this highten the chance of them playing?

"At the moment I wouldn't want to play Glastonbury or something because I'd be setting myself a very high benchmark but we're definitely going to play some big gigs in the UK or in England or in London this year,"

Any thoughts?

I think it lowers it :P I would love them to play but I think they will play their own shows instead of a uk festival

I think it strengthens it.
Glasto is huge, no doubt about it... but at Coachella they are playing with Muse and Jay-Z, which is sorta like T in the Park (I know Jay-Z isnt headlining)

I think they've gonna do a UK fest this year... and R+L is a "big" gig. Specially a headline slot.

hmm, but R/L normally go for those exclusives don't they which is why bands doing big gigs (ala muse & green day) are made less likely

I wouldn't say no, would love them to be there!

but i tihnk a R&L could be considered a big gig. He might not actually mean a Gorillaz gig.

Ah i guess so

I was more thinking along the lines of how he said plural but there again I guess Reading & Leeds is 2 gigs, fair play.

there headlining coachella with muse and jay-z, R/L is bigger but the still could headline. and especially as FR like booking UK exclusives i think it highers teh chances.

I don't know how likely they are, but I certainly think they could easily headline. Feel Good Inc is one of the biggest hits of this decade. And no matter what genre of music fans you talk to there's always a good deal of people who would be more than happy to see them. If not 'for the experience' than because they're actually fans.
Even if you're not a Gorillaz fan it's not hard to enjoy them at a festival with your friends.

"We are doing very few festivals this year. I would prefer to go out and have the band play their own headline shows first," says Morrison.

Cant find the original link. Not sure whether it strengthens or weakens the chances because they've only been confirmed to be playing coachella and it suggests they are playing more than one festival? Opinions?

I'd love it if they did play, but i think the chances are slim. No real reason, just i cant imagine it.
No matter what music someone is into, everyone would enjoy seeing them! bouncing around drunk with your friends etc :P

They'd be great to see live. Real twist to a normal LF gig...

Can people stop thinking the Gorlilaz would do a whole set using the CGI's it was a one off, think of the costs and set up time to do an 1.30 hour set...

I think this has gotta be the type of band that R+L book. They've been soundly beaten in every other area to be honest..
The problem is I don't know what type of band they are really
