From Thrash Hits after they laughed at Madina Lake and Fightstar.
**UPDATED** Sonisphere have confirmed there will be another raft of bands they’ll be announcing next week, which our rumour mill suggests will include one band that we’re actually pretty f**king surprised are playing any UK festival this year, as to be honest, we never thought they’d play any show ever again....
System of a Down or Soundgarden maybe?

soad very slim chance. soungarden dont fit the "any show ever again" caveat.

I'm more than happy because Skunk Anansie were announced. This means I no longer have to buy a day ticket for V! Whoop!

This new announcement is a joke, they are really going to have to give us some good news soon, or this years fest will go the same as last years - ticket giveaways by the hundred, under attendance etc
As for this Soundgarden thing - is it just me, or has there not even been a confirmation by the band about the reunion? Everyone seems to have been going mental over this, all due to Cornell's vague comment on twitter a few months ago. Nothing from the rest of the band

well they could of meant "any show ever again" as in before they reunited.....which could mean Soundgarden as they also said: "we’re actually pretty f**king surprised are playing any UK festival this year "....as over the last few weeks the media have been speculating they wernt to play UK Festivals till 2011. Also NME did initially say that Soundgarden were playing Sonisphere also i think Soni perfectly coincides with the Pearl Jam tour finishing so Matt Cameron would be available again. Duno maybe im still clutching at straws but this is the only band for me that could save Sonisphere this year.

Mostly a poor announcement.
Gallows is good, Apocalptica are good too (and will do some of their collab stuff with Rammstein no doubt which will be awesome).
SA are decent enough, although I'm not a fan.
Madina Lake are terrible but will be very low down (possibly on Bohemia), and FF5 will be on Bohemia no doubt so not fussed.
---
As for next weeks announcement I'm hoping it is a big one to redeem this, but tbh I think it is silly saying Sonisphere have "blown their load too early" or whatever, the festival is still what, almost 5 months away. This time last year they had only just pretty much announced the festival, and there is still a lot of time for bands to get announced, I can see people being upset, but its not as if ML is that much of a curveball, they have played DL and R&L's in the past afterall have they not?

we all said similar things last year kipper, whilst waiting for the big names that just didnt follow after the initial buzz. what followed was announcements that didnt happen, fmc bollocks, and tickets given away to anyone with a vowel in their name. I hope it improves - as I still might make a day trip for R+. I just cant see it, going on last years farce.

Won't Maiden and Rammstein have taken all the money? I don't think there'll be other big scoops.
So many festivals now..... Times they are a changin'.....

Although i'm slightly underwhelmed at the new additions to the bill, i gotta admit that Sonisphere is (at least) attempting to cover all the bases.
Wasn't too long ago that people were complaining that the line-up was mostly made of dinosaurs, now Sonisphere has added some more contemporary acts to balance out the bill....... everyone's kicking off again
I'm sure once the bill is complete and we're all there with a beer/cider in hand - it'll be fun!
(could be worse, we could be looking at an Arcade Fire/Blink 182/My Chemical Romance combo like Reading and Leeds!!!
)

Because of the gashness of this announcement they could liven things up with a no holds barred wrestling match between Funeral for a friend + Madina cack + Family force 5 + Fightstar v Kerry King. I know where my money is going

I thought the line up had enough big names on it though, last year....
And so far most of the names are big enough, and ML and FF5 look set for Bohemia anyways. SA aren't a bad pull (they are pretty popular), and Gallows are a good addition too (Grey Britain was an amazing album), and FFAF are very popular too. Either way we'll see what next weeks announcement is, which should be big if TH are to be believed.

I think they could announce Mr Blobby and you'd defend it, Its ok, if you're happy with the line up, thats graet I am too, but when I said they've blown their load early it didn't mean I think its a shit line up, I meant they've announced all their big acts pretty much, look at the new poster, how they've put some acts in logo form and they have the position of the special guests, looks like they're the only big name left, if its Guns N Roses, which after the Reading rumour has now gone away that would be awesome. Although Id think they'd want to headline and should be put on Friday and Alice Cooper switched to another day or play underneath them.
Id absolutely be made up if its GNR, but im guessing it just some old rock band who haven't played for ages, actually thinking about it, I bet I know who its gunna be
Van Halen.

I was all set for a summer of Download, Reading and Sonisphere and then yesterday happened. Reading's not particularly impressive rumoured headliners followed by a pretty terrible Sonisphere announcement.
The problem that Sonisphere has is that because the 2 main stages alternate, there could now be a period of several hours where there is nothing to do except walking backwards and forwards AWAY from the stage with the bands on. We did this a little bit last year, but with all the filler bands in the lineup it would happen a lot more this year. If I hear Madina Lake cover Nine Inch Nails again I will end up hurting someone!

thats exactly my problem with soni, and with (for me) such a lack of bands I want to see - it is looking like an unlikely purchase for me at the moment.

f**k, Faith No More are playing the spanish sonisphere.....really wasnt expecting them in europe this summer! .....oh god please say they're the special guest!

Faith No More??? That would be incredible.
The other Sonis seem to be getting loads of great bands (Metallica, Heaven and Hell, Mastodon, Motorhead, AiC for starters). In fact all the other line ups are a lot more coherent. f**k knows what the organisers are playing at with the Knebworth bands
I'm hoping that we get spill over from Hyde Park (Clutch, BLS, Down would be great). Mastodon, Soundgarden and FNM would make it mind blowing.
I can but dream....
