Paul is there a contact you have for this fest to complain to the sound was truely shocking on Sunday at spillers warf to the extent that we didnt bother with Monday, 25 quid aint a vast amount of money but its still well more than the festival was worth

Didn't go to this, haven't been overly impressed by the last couple.
How was the turn out now they've chucked £25/£17.50 tickets on?

The promoters were Generator who are based up there. Never went near the main stage but never heard of any complaints about it either. Sorry you had a bad time.

Sold out Sunday, they were selling Monday tickets but not sure if they went eventually or not. Sunday definately didn't seem busier. I was working at the Millenium Bridge area on the Newcastle side.

Sound did seem a lot better at the Spillers site on Monday (Sunday was appalling, you could barely hear Paolo Nutini at the mixing desk). Fewer mewling kids hanging around with no interest in music probably also helped - their constant high pitch whines was akin to fairly bad tinnitus.
I'm not sure what the score was with selling out. Sunday day tickets sold out however they were selling weekend tickets on the day. Monday day tickets were also available on the day.
Definitely think the line up needs some work and seriously thinking through. Hardly any crowd for De La Soul or The Horrors after the mass exodus to the Baltic to see Example and Hadouken followed by the flood back for Enter Shakari.
On the plus side, food was better (particularly fired in the hole up at the Ballast Hill site even though the prices mysteriously increased by a quid between Sunday and Monday). Saw some good bands up at the Ballast Hill site though it never seemed overly busy so it may be a short lived experiment and the organisation and event staff were a huge improvement on last year.
Is it worth £25? Probably, yes. If there were two bands you really enjoyed then you get your moneys worth and we enjoyed a lot more than that (Slow Club in particular). Would I go back next year? Depends on if the price continues to rise and more increasingly year on year the line up.

My tuppenysworth on it all...
The sound does need to improve dramatically for the festival to continue. Watched Futureheads from to the right of the mixing desk and could hardly hear a thing. Could only hear one of the rappers through De La Soul as well. Delphic on the Sunday night at the Baltic was shocking, the mix was good but it was just so quiet!! Its pointless going to all the trouble of putting the fest if they're either not going to invest in the sound or the licence has the levels so low.
As above poster mentioned, the new Ballast area was a godsend (and a haven on the Sunday from all the pissed teenagers). Better choice of drink, decent tent with some good bands on (enjoyed Smoove and Turrell and Dannys and the Champions of the World espesh!!). Did anyone try that freaky french kaleidoscope show up there? Definitely need to keep that!
The pissed teenagers are annoying, however the fest is probably aimed at them more than anyone else so I cannot really complain too much about them, they should learn to handle their drink though, saw a fair few casualties by 4pm on the Sunday.... lightweights!!!
I wish they'd put the stage on Spillers back facing the other way, I remember watching the Super Furries play with the sun going down behind the Tyne Bridge a few years ago, magical!!!!
If its done right, it could be brilliant. As far as locations go I doubt there are few better city festivals in the UK .
