how is everyone travelling? we were going to take the eurostar but it's far too expensive so now we're flying! is anyone else flying? if so do you know how to get from the airport (charles de gaule) to the festival, i was thinking the metro but i have no idea how it works!!

you take the "RER" into the city. it goes to gare du nord and paris est, I think to remember.
and from there you can get anywhere with the metro.
i think you can also travel as far as you want with the ticket you buy at the airport for the RER...meaning that you can change into the metro and one of the main stations without having to buy a ticket again...but I could be wrong, don´t know for sure.
the metro ride from the main stations takes a bit though...around 30 mins or so. you´ll need to know where to get off the metro, it´s in the outskirts of the city in the west...just follow the french youth
it´s then just a short 10 min. walk and your there.
hope this helps a bit

Have booked tickets today, very reasonable (99E) considering the line-up! Can't wait, camping sold out so staying in an Etap nearby. Cheap flights L'pool to CDG on the Thursday evening with Easyjet.
Couple of quick q's; can someone confirm whether or not you can take cameras or booze in? And indeed how strict are the searches?
Also what time does it go on to and are there any afterparties etc

last band finishes sometime between half past 11 and 12...trains/metros also run at that time.
not sure about after parties to be honest, was never really in the mood, after walking round paris all day and then the festival.
cameras: yes, my mate took his canon eos 400d with him and had no problems...but that was in 2008, dunno if they've "stricted" things up a little.
booze: nope...no glass bottles whatsoever. camel bag rucksacks are def. allowed, plastic bottles as well.

Does it get very warm? Is there free drinking water in the site?

paris is a nice place to be in summer. last time I was there, yes it was quite hot. BUT the festival grounds are full of trees and places to sit in the shade.
water...can´t rememeber really, don´t think so though. campsite had water facilities though.

Hey,
Girlie question I know but are there showers and if so, is it a hassle to use them?

showers are there and (this is not sarcasm) they are normal european standard showers - turn tap for water (guess you could expect large differences in france from common, known things
) from a hygienist´s point of view: no need to worry, looked clean.
have fun who ever´s going! off to england and leeds festival tomorrow myself.

Thanks for the reply, think I might give them a whirl, I was just a bit worried that I might be faced with long queues to use them
Enjoy Leeds fest, just down the road from my home town....should get myself there one year and give it a try!
Thanks

I'm heading to this too, going over from Dublin on my own. So if any of you see an Irish girl with pretty poor French, say Hi.

I'm taking two strangers in my car, so might get murdered on the Eurotunnel, which is nice.
Dublinminx, if you're bereft of friends there look for a bearded ginger folkster in plaid. I've always room for another lonesome e-festival-er

Hi, i'm 17 and going to this, i was just wondering if there are going to be age restrictions for under 18's etc? i'm just slightly confused and don't want to go all the way to paris to be told i can't get in.

What is the story with the no camera rule??? Surely they only mean professional ones?? Would they really confiscate my tiny pink digital camera??

Thanks for the offer Postulio, but I'm flying from Dublin. Good luck with the journey. I'll keep my eyes peeled for either a very relieved bearded ginger folkster, or one slightly damaged. Hope it's the former ;-)

First day wasn't bad. Weather was a bit spotty but the ground seemed to deal with it well. Sound is excellent on the two main stages. Only major complaint is the price of drink. 6 euro for beer is bad enough but 3 euro for water is almost criminal. At least I was allowed in with my platypus and there are taps hidden around the stages (hopefully drinkable... haven't got sick yet anyway). Wasn't that pushed about the lineup for Friday so music wise best for me was Kele.

Thinking about this next year. Got a couple of questions:
1. Can you take cans into the campsite and/or 'arena'?
2. Is there anything to do after the bands finish?

Just got back from Rock en Seine it was an excellent festival, Underworld, Beirut and Arcade Fire stood out. Organisation was generally good, the French didn't seem as excitable as the crowd at a British festival but some were getting into it. In answer to the above;
1) No cans in the arena although we smuggled Vodka in every day. Searches are pretty lame. Not sure about the campsite.
2) Not on site, although there were afterparties in Paris and a good tube network with a stop near the festival.

Hey,
I camped there this year and thought it was a great little festival but agree with kpins...the French certainly don't rock as much as the British crowds! The campsite is mega organised with security on the gates checking wrist bands each time and to their credit they turned a blind eye to us buying in cans etc from the local supermarket. I think if you don't flaunt it they are happy to oblige. However, friends staying in local hotel were searched at the general entrance each day but managed to smuggle stuff in too, it's only a quick check of bags worth it to avoid the 6 euro pints!
After the music ends in the main arena there is a bar and late night disco for the campsite only...it's very loud and you get very little sleep because of it! Have been to Glasto 3 times and never experienced such rubbish nights sleep under canvas than at Rock en Seine!! Ignore what the tickets say about keeping it quiet and respecting your neighbours as it doesn't happen
Saying all that, everyone was there to have fun so not going to be too grumpy about it. Might just have to stay in a nearby hotel if I go again (need my sleep!)
If you get the chance go, it's a grreat little festy
