Rock en Seine

my girlfriend and I are thinking of going over to Paris in August and I've noticed that the Rock en Seine festival is on towards the end of the month.
Has anyone been to this before and can anyone give tips about what it's like, how easy it is to get to?? Is it better to camp or is it easy enough to get the metro back into the city centre afterwards?
any advice gratefully received
cheers, Dave

my tip: do it!
really its the most comfortable and coolest festival iīve ver been to. went there in 2004 and had a hotel room as camping was not possible then and the metro runs all night. meanwhile there is a camping site which is the coolest
but now more about the festival: stage 2 and 3 are not really far apart and you always hear both of them whereever you stand, a small problem, but its ok...just stand on the right side of stage 2 and you wont hear that much of stage 3.
the main stage is nice and big and the grounds offer many places that are a bit higher, so you can even go to the main stage at 11 at night and sit down to watch the headliner without any stress.
the organizers actually booked amy winehouse two years in a row...and she didnt turn up...but apart from that, the lineup is always amazing (see 2005 e.g.) . tickets are priced quite ok (130 euros for 3 days (in 2004 i paid 65 for two days...), but be sure to get the extra camping ticket as well, if you dont get a hostel or hotel! without it you wont get into the camping site.
it takes about 10 - 15 mins to get to the eiffel tower by metro.
if you need to go shopping, there are supermarkets in walking distance (also about 15 mins) and cafes...great place to have a festival in my opinion...
oh and theres always some kind of arts exhibition connected to music...either photographic portraits or in 2007 - craig robinsons abstract/minimalised pictures of some people known to the music world...always cool to have a walk around if theres noone playing you like.
as said...do it!!! and go for a day or two longer to check out jim morrisons grave

It sounds like a great festival, very different to ones like Glastonbury and T in the Park that I'm used to. To be honest I like the idea of staying in a hotel and getting the metro in/out. well, my girlfriend likes that idea more than I do
any idea when the line-up becomes available, or when tickets are likely to sell out?

haha it's OK, i didnt think you were on commission or anything for getting folk to attend. Thanks for all the info, it's much appreciated. I'm still definitely thinking of going, really want to go back to Paris this year and this would be something a little different from the usual site-seeing
Never been to Leeds I'm afraid mate, only T in the Park (once) and Glastonbury (4)

one more thing concerning the lineup: as the festivalīs on the same weekend as leeds and reading some groups do all three festivals, so there are some parallels.
in 2004 e.g. brmc had to cancel their rock en seine show and auf der maur who were playing leeds on friday and reading on sunday (or the other way round) spontaneously filled brmcīs spot at rock en sein...

I was going to go to a fest in Belgium, but it's all looking a bit too me-tal there at the moment (Iron Maiden ffs), the answer may lie in France, but i'm not sure where yet!

I went to this 3 years ago. The crowd is very laid back so you get as close as you want to the stages. All 3 stages are outdoor so the two smaller ones (at 90 degrees to eachother) alternate the bands. Plenty of beer tents plus a wine bar and I think maybe a cocktail tent.
The PAs are very loud indeed - most people had earplugs in. Very easy to get to if you're staying in a Paris hotel - it's the last stop on a metro line and a walk over a bridge.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how the camping works..it says 45 for two people and 90 for four.. is that per person or per pitch?

I emailed the official site, they said that it is per pitch, so it's shared between however many people are camping..obviously with three people you would have to pay for a four person pitch.

i just printed out my tickets and they've got all the rules and regulations - no fires, bbqs or camping stoves; how are we supposed to eat?!
anyone know of the nearest supermarket? there's no way i'm eating festival food non-stop, it's gross and rediculously expensive, i've google mapped it and there appears to be a lidl about a half hour walk away? anything closer?

I have read that you can walk to shops and "amenities" in approx 15 minutes.
Does it say what days you can camp? For instance, can you go on Thursday night so you're all set up for the first day on Friday? As you would at Reading for example ?
