Yeah, I guess they will present a schedule whenever the festival is sold out. Sales won't benefit from letting people know all the clashes between bands.

Surely if three days of music has been enough up to now why not have a music free Thursday. Drinking and chatting is the new Rock 'N' Roll you know!

Thats a good idea! As for chatting thru Noah and the Whale yes that happened when I saw them last year in Exeter....but he did pointedly request that they went to the bar! I think that more bands should do that... my biggest disappointment was seeing Hockey as support in Leeds and this woman in front shouted to the guy she was with all the way thru, (since being punched at Hawley gig I have refrained from asking people to be quiet)
.....but it still upsets me!!!!!

Punched? That's terrible, I'm sorry. And at Hawley? Ridiculous. Some people shouldn't be allowed at gigs....

I don't mind the pink carnation but a copy of Murdoch's Times? You might be waiting for a long time so you may as well come on Friday as usual.

I doubt many other people will agree with me because he seems to be quite highly thought of around here, but I'm actually kind of disappointed with this announcement. I've listened to Darren a few times and I saw him at EotR last year and he just doesn't do it for me.
Am I missing something? What should I listen to of his that's going to convince me that this is a good Thurs night announcement after all?

I don't know much of his solo stuff which I imagine is pretty much entirely what he'll be playing but love his Hefner stuff, such as this

Mush as I enjoy Darren Hayman I must say I am a bit disappointed with the same old people doing 'surprise' sets

I have a radical suggestion for those who don't like this announcement. Do something else.
For my part I'm not fussed either way, might go see him, might not, but it won't spoil my Thursday.
Bizarre that in the space of a few months we've gone from happy that the festival is opening on Thursday at all, to disappointment in the announcement of secret sets on the night that wasn't originally going to have live music anyway. Perspective, people.

Ummmm, so no is allowed to express an opinion that maybe might be a little bit critical. I know I will have a great time as ever but that doesn't mean to say I have to pretend that everything is perfect !
