All headlining Optimus Alive festival in Portugal 8-10th July just after Glastonbury
I'm usually sceptical of such threads as these, but surely a good chance certainly of the latter two of those acts cropping up at Glasto?
Phoenix would make my festival

It's lucky I'm too cynical to let thread titles get my hopes up.

Are Phoenix those French hipsters that used to hang with Bangalter et al?
Why would they make your fest exactly?

get the newish album 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' - its very good
not good enough to 'make a festival' but a great album nonetheless

Hipsters are great. The mainstream is shite.
Phoenix are great, Love Like a Sunset Parts 1 and 2 from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix were collectively my favourite track of last year.

Got tickets to see Phoenix at the Roundhouse next month. It's impossible to get bored of seeing them and they'd be great at Glasto.

Anyone who adores music can't be all bad! But so called "Hipsters" who wield knowledge of music without any real love of it are scum.
I'll check this Phoenix album when I get home.

I'm gonna have to jump on the bandwagon and say Phoenix would be amazing at Glastonbury.

Gossip please. Have been very consistent over the 11(?) years they've been together although a little more of the older stuff life would be nice for once but I'm not to complain as they always put on a great show. Have been brilliant every time I've seen them.

These people exist? I've never met one.
Noun
Hipster (plural hipsters)
- A person who is keenly interested in the latest trends or fashions.
- A member of the bohemian counter culture.
- An aficionado of jazz who considers her- or himself to be hip.
As a general rule those on these forums who use "hipster" as an insult are the ones with the blandest taste in music.
A: "I dont like U2"
B: "You hipster"
A: "Muse are pretty dull"
B: "Hipster, you are only saying that because you think it's cool"
A: "Stevie Wonder hasn't made a decent record in years"
B: "He is a legend Hipster!"

Phoenix...oh, you mean these hipsters ... apparently they've recently transformed their setlists a bit and sneak a few "Jungleland" and "You Give Love a Bad Name" covers in...
http://phoenixband.org/
they've just been confirmed for Bonnaroo in America 2 weeks before Glasto, (along with Coachella in April), and there seems to be quite a carryover of bands doing both that and Glasto.
I think they'd be enjoyed best in a tent though, not out on a big stage. would definitely catch them if clashes permit it...

The middle of the 3 above is kinda what my understanding of "hipster" is.
A hipster is someone who "knows what music to say is good" rather than "knowing good music".
The bogstandard hipster quote du jour:
"Flaming Lips doing "Dark Side" in full at Glasto would be super."
