Anybody actually know when the next announcement is?

All was said vaguely a while ago was mid Feb, Download have confirmed their announcement will be next week, im guessing Monday night into Tuesday Morning.

Think that a loyt of acts from Hard Rock Calling will be added to Sonisphere as its the following week and they're holding off a while on them? Hope so as Ive said on here tons I want Clutch and Black abel Society and now Down have been announced, if Sonisphere doesn't get these three acts then thats a poor show, that Hard Rock Calling managed to beat them to booking them!

It has gone very quiet with no sign of one coming up (even Twitter is saying nothing) though according to my emails they did announce that Sonisphere would be a festival on 9th Feb last year so maybe we will have something this week.

With RATM being announced this week and Download next week maybe it will be the week after that?

Yeah maybe, cus the week after that its V and that will get tons of media attention and then it will be getting close to the Reading and Leeds annoucement

I was hoping it would be this week, have the announcements been getting done on Radio1 or any particular show for Sonisphere? Haven't been paying attention?

Tomorrow it will be 3 months since the first announcement on 9th Dec [I know cus it was my birthday and I was in Birmingham watching Yeah Yeah Yeahs]

2 announcements grand totalling 12 artists and 1 spoken word set [Rollins] in 3 months isn't exactly very good is it?

It was very random last year, there was a few announcements on Daniel P Carters Rock Show on Radio One but this was advertised first though it was usually leaked before.

I also remember Kerrang online leaked one of the announcements in there ad for that weeks magazine.

Like you say the V Festival one is coming up in the first week in March and Leeds/Reading will be probably 2 weeks after that one so unless it is this week it could be lost.

I just realised as well that week that you have earmarked for the Soni announcement, TITP will be announced

So its this week free apart from the Rage gig
next week Download
week after TITP
week after V

then week commencing Monday 8th March appears free

They should do it this week otherwise its a month until they get a clean week away from a major festival getting the media attention.

It might be tommorow as that's when Sonisphere 2009 had it's first announcement and theres a lot of stuff going on later on in February.

Well its not that bad either. I mean the festival is still 5 months away. I think the announcement will be next week, twitter said it doesnt look like it will be this week if I recall.

As for who will be in it, I think Down,Clutch and BLS are good bets with High Voltage having them playing the week or so before Sonisphere. Theres also Marilyn Manson who seems somewhat likely with his soni sponsored tour as well as Arch Enemy for similar reason. Some Wacken bands such as W.A.S.P. and of course soundgarden are quite highly rumoured too.

I'd take Soundgarden, Manson, Arch Enemy, Down and Clutch as an announcement, whenever it came.

Rise Against are possible aswell. Playing one or two of the EU sonispheres and not doing Download as they are at a US fest on the weekend of Download. I don't see them returning to R&L's either, so Sonisphere makes the most sense.

Rise Against are playing the US fest the last day, the Sunday 13th, they're playing a fest in Spain on Weds 8th, so could in theory play Download on the Friday and they fly to the US

Jay Z is playing that US fest as a headliner, but is headlining IOW on the Friday so Id say Rise Against probably gunna play early main stage at Download Friday

I twittered them asking if they're playing download last night cus of the US fest being the same weekend and said if you're not playing then surely you can say you're not playing, and they didn't reply.

No one's going to answer that kind of stuff at twitter.

Rise Against will prob do Download, but I f**king want them at Soni, cause I can't do dl.

If they know they aren't gunna play then why wouldn't they answer it? If they know they're gunna be in the states they can say yeah we aren't in Europe that weekend so sorry we can't play

By the way they've now announced they aren't in Spain 8th June, they said it was a mistake and its 8th July instead.

Says nothing to me, even if I'd bet on them being at download.

And what if ...

Well they're free at 7-12

What if they do a gig in US cause they're in US that weekend?

Like Rock am Ring-> Gig/Festival in USA, Canada or whatever -> Bannaroo -> Back to Europe tour which is in June and July ( sonisphere is in July also )

What IF?

Let's just wait... We'll know in 2 days

Hmmm, people are talking about Download now as they've finally had a few announcements but Sonisphere announced 13 bands before Christmas, none of this 1 band here and 5 bands after midnight nonsense.

I don't think there will be one now until March and it will be Soundgarden, Marilyn Manson, with Gallows headlining the tent and a few others.

The organiser said that ticket sales are going much better than last year and so they should with Iron Maiden and Rammstein as headliners. One band plays stadium shows and the other arena's.

Well whatever the announcement is, it had better be good, or I will be tempted to jump ship to Download, especially with the latest line up news

Soundgarden alone would seal the deal for me

Yes, but Download has hit big. Whatever you think of the bands, they've got 3 of the biggest names in rock headlining, with an interesting and varied selection beneath. There's NO weak headliner there, while Sonisphere, even though it's technically 2+a bit days, people will compare Alice Cooper to any of them and think uh.... maybe Download. And I know Sonisphere haven't announced their other second headliner yet, but Maiden's day looks pretty weak IMO.

Alice Cooper/Rammstein/Iron Maiden

How's that weak?
