Will have to agree to disagree on this one because i think Muse, particularly the way the lead singer uses his voice, are very influenced by Morrissey and The Smiths.

No, i'm not saying that. What i'm saying is you need a very obscure perspective to understand where his lyrics are coming from, both mentally and socially. The music that he constantly plays says a lot to me about my life :P
oh come on.. they're not that obscure.
I totally get why many people relate to him so strongly, but there's not much that is particularly unusual. Not compared to so much that is 'out there'.

I agree, but that's only because of The Smiths. Before The Smiths there wasn't anything quite like them. I truly believe they were almost as infuential as The Beatles, but with only a fraction of their success.

Then you're an idiot.  And I love Moz more than I love any other artist but he doesn't like Glastonbury and so he will never perform well there.  Last time he played the sound was awful, he knew it, moaned about and never seemed to happy.  And he was late.
does he ever enjoy his shows..
he seems to use any excuse not to play..
he's a prima-donna

It's strange because that's why i like Morrissey's lyrics. He tackles risque subjects and sings with his heart. Of course, i love Dylan too.

Who doesn't?

Your passion for the Smiths is of course a good thing.  I like people who are passionate about their music.  Most people on this site, for example.

But I can't help but think your passion is blinding you on this Muse thing.  I seriously can't see it.

I'd be delighted if this happened, so happy. Not sure how likely though...

Yes he does. Brixton & Ally Palace this year he was certainly enjoying himself. Lots of banter with the crowd. He did look very tired at the latter. He then went off the rails - he gigs too much imho.

Prima -Donna - definately and I for one think his shows are too short. When he is on song he is magnificent live (seen probably a dozen times over the years) but not sure he is Festival material.....

Morrissey is actually a Millwall supporter. Why? He's not from East London. His family don't support them. And obviously he's not a glory hunter ( :P ). But because - and this is true - their connection with hooliganism and Moz's fascination with hooligan culture!

Best reason to support a football team ever? :P

LOL. Just listen to Bellamy's and Morrissey's voices. Bellamy is blatantly influenced by Mozza. If anything, Bellamy's voice is more "whiny", as you would say.

I've never heard Bellamy sing but if his singing ability is as great as when he plays for Man City as a striker then I can imagine he's amazing!

:P

he was horrible before Muse in '04. only played 40 minutes. I post this, as I see that you specifically recommend he play before Muse in the sunset slot on saturday in another thread.
perhaps you didn't realize this had been done before w/ disastrous results. Muse fans in position, slagging off Morrissey beforehand, etc...

can't see Morrissey ever at Glasto again.

I thought he was fantastic that year myself.  His own songs and his Smiths numbers were all brilliant and his voice was on top form.  One of my best gigs of the weekend.  I wasn't too near the front, so I wasn't near any aggro Muse fans.
That's the thing with the Pyramid stage,  the crowd is so large, you can have loads of different vibes in different places.

I am sure Moz hates all sports , going back to the days at school when he was forced to participate
as documented in Rusholme Ruffians !

I thought he was poor that day , but a few months later he nailed it at Leeds , one of the best sets
of the weekend.

Could not believe it was the same bloke !

I don't think Muse sound anything like Radiohead (they wish..  :P ), it's just his voice

they both have that high, slightly whingeing sound to them

(to me, anyway)

what's an accapella rock voice?

Well, listen to You've Got Everything Now and Plug In Baby and tell me Bellamy isn't influenced by the way Mozza uses his voice.
