I mean, I like Radiohead just as much as the next (normal) person. But the more I read the "OMG please, please please please I think I've just come in my pants!" comments, the more embarrassed I get for their fans. Does anyone else feel this?

Nope!!! I am one of those people - well minus the come in my pants bit!! I have been a huge Radiohead fan for longer than I care to remember and haven't managed to see them live yet so it would make me very happy if they did!
I don't think that there is anything embarassing about being passionate about something to be honest! And if that something happens to be a band and their music then so be it!

Anyone who obsesses about one band to the detriment of all others is a waste of time. Radiohead are undoubtedly a superb band - but they don't half attract a load of nobs as fans. Theres a really middle-class spoilt brat sense about them. The Irish ones I know anyway.
I guess Radiohead's continued success has bred this into their fanbase. Their fans view them so passionately and without question that it can put the rest of us off.

See that's fair enough. Although it seems to me there are an abnormal number of hysterical/obsessed fans. I wouldn't count you as one of them.

A waste of their own time though surely if anything, so their own decision to make?

One word.........Oasis!

Radiohead and orgasm in the same sentence amused me.
That's as likely to end any thoughts of steamy passion and sexy talk as Maggie Thatcher popping her head around the door during the 'closing stages' saying 'oh by the way, I've found out I AM your mother after all'.
So gents - if you start on the vinegars a bit sooner than you'd like, bung on Karma Police.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!! But I would say that there are other groups of fans that are more hysterical/obsessed than some Radiohead fans.
Also if you saw my reaction if they ever were announced to headline Glasto you may change your opinion of my rationality!

I own 5 Radiohead records Mickey. I like the band. When theyre good (Reckoner for example) they are one of the best bands on the planet.
You have a broad range of interests and tastes in music. The pissants I'm talkin' about are the 1 dimensional wastes of carbon and water that think they are the best band of all time.

I loved their early stuff, I quite liked Kid A, I didn't mind In Rainbows but I have no idea how people have been so totally seduced by their constant anti-marketing campaigns and I am even more confused by how many people love them more the further they get from a melody or a tune. And before I get loads of abuse for not getting their use of "noise" I am a massive fan of Steve Reich and Kraftwerk and all things in between. I just don't think Radiohead are remotely innovative or refreshing (always the words that are used in response to the "tuneless" accusation) because pretty much everything they've done has been done before.
That being said at least 6 Radiohead songs would be in the running for my Desert Island Discs so I always go and watch them when they play and I'm never actually unhappy about seeing them, It's just the rare occassions that they play Creep and High and Dry are always my highlights (and My Iron Lung, Paranoid Android, Anyone Can Play Guitar, Vegetable, Just, Fake Plastic Trees, Karma Police AND No Surprises).

Yeah, It's not like they're The Smiths!! Now there's a band worth being obsessed with. For me at least. I never really listen to them anymore, however, but I'd always say they were my favourite band ever. That is what I think Radiohead have done to a lot of their fans. They've become a habit as opposed to a real love.
Pretty much anyone who rates Radiohead as one of their favourite bands ever (particularly if they're including the last few albums or are under 25 years old) doesn't have a valuable opinion about anything they do now because they've already blindly given their heart to anything Radiohead do (or don't). Like me with Morrissey and The Smiths.
I once claimed that "Kill Uncle" was a brilliant album that rivaled anything brought out around the same time. I still think that, actually. But then I am still obsessed with Moz.

I don't mind Radiohead, but to be honest I started to go off them after their third band practice back in 1985.

I'm a huge Radiohead fan. I can also see why people hate them as well it's their choice. What I do dislike though is the mentality that, if I don't like something anyone who likes it must have some kind of ulterior motive for saying they like it. For instance - "anyone who rates Radiohead as one of their favourite bands ever (particularly if they're including the last few albums or are under 25 years old) doesn't have a valuable opinion about anything they do now ". Couldn't be down to them just liking the album after a few listens could it?
