Just got the Daredevil Christopher Wright CD through the door (awesome by the way...a must see for me) and decided to check out other Amble Down Records offerings...was pretty impressed, especially with the following: All seem very "EotR" friendly...hope Simon has as good a relationship with this wee label as he does with Bella Union etc

He should check out Erased Tapes too, they have a good ethos going and some top bands, like Codes In The Clouds and the British Expeditionary Force.

Mr Knuckles, I trust your musical taste, so I've just ordered the Daredevil Christopher Wright

Uh Oh...pressure!
It was mostly mixed by Justin Vernon...so it has a bit of that Bon Iver magic dust...hope you enjoy. The East Coast is the stand out track but all worth a listen.

I'm sure I'll love it, but don't worry, it felt like it was free cos I'd forgotten I had £10 in my Paypal account

I have listened to it a few more times and I am still intrigued...however there are a few very small parts where he sounds SLIGHTLY like James Blunt...I know, i'm sorry, I didn't want to say it but I did...PLEASE don't let this put any of you off purchasing CD or supporting TDCW as they are great.
Sorry again

OK, I can cope as long as the rest is good...... and as long as he doesn't *look* like James Blunt......

I feel like I have ruined their career...honestly they are great!

Well, it arrived on Saturday and I was immediately impressed because it came with a handwritten post-it note saying something like "Thanks Rachel, Enjoy! Kyle". That's definitely a bonus for buying direct from a small independent record company
It's good stuff - quite quirky in places, and fortunately not getting any James Blunt vibes
There's a few echoes of other bands - vocally sounds a bit like Steven Adams from the Broken Family Band crossed with Jeff Mangum..... One track in particular reminds me of BFB (Clouds, I think it was) and another one (can't remember the name ? before or after Clouds) somehow reminds me of The Weeek That Was. All of which are good things
One thing's for certain, they sound as if they'll be huge fun live
