Simone never left did he? I thought The Duke & The King was/is just a side project.

I read a report last year saying that he was not happy just being the drummer and backing singer and that he needed a change of direction following the loss of his wife/partners unborn child.   He played on yonder is the clock but he is not on the latest web site pics.
Simone is an author of a couple of well liked books and ,I believe,he has lectured on the college circuit. Obviously a man with a few strings to his bow.
I also read that he'd be happy to join up with his brothers occasionally, hence my hopes.
I'm gonna have to find out where I read these reports aren't I   !!!

Thanks for that. I had heard that he needed some time away after his wife's death but assumed he was still part of the band. Either way, I'm certain he will join them for EOTR. I got the impression he genuinely loved it last year with td&tk.

Haven't posted for a while due to lack of anything interesting to add, however having gone into a bit of a spotify frenzy since last week, I thought it was time to say that I am loving The Antlers( How good is Hospice??) Megafaun( Why have they been removed?) and Elliott Brood( Can't wait to see them live).  Thats about all i've got round to as I keep repeating their albums.  The Felice Brothers is also a top result.  This is only going to get better!

I agree this is shaping up to be the best line up yet. I saw Elliott Brood last year and they were fantastic. I predict they will be a highlight for many people this year. Also saw the Unthanks a year or 2 ago and they were utterly enchanting. I just hope the crowd gives them the respect they deserve by being quiet during the songs.

The best discovery for me, in the short space of time I've had to delve into these acts, is Black Mountain. Great stuff from them. Should wake a few of the folkies up!

The Pink Mountaintops are the same band but playing a different type of music, more poppier/Spectorish.  Last album,Outside Love, is a cracker.   Stephen McBean is the main man.    The guitarist in Black Mountain also has a band called Black Meridian.  Wish I had more time to follow all these artists  :P

I actually had that Pink Mountaintops album kicking around on MP3, and have just given it another spin. Mmmm, didn't grab me as much Black Mountain. Still OK though.
