The Rock4Life sunday event has apparently been cancelled due to low ticket sales, it's a one day event now.
Seems like it must be true as there is no mention of the Sunday ever having existed on the website anymore.

But yeah, poor management, poor line up and poor advertising has killed this off.. not to mention the daft prices they wanted for the line up offered...

The interaction between joe gibbs (of bella) and bruce macgregor (of rock4life) on the radio (when the announcement of bella was made) on wednesday seemed quite telling especially when joe referred to festivals being parachuted in

there is low ticket sales and there is 420 out of a capacity of 20000, my god that is bad. I genuinely thought that a pop based festival may attract some people but obviously not

I don't like to see festivals fail but really a festival in Nairn, in May headlined by Status quo in an old oil field just deserves to be laughed about

based on mcfly tour sales and the audience that status quo pulled at glastonbury, you'd have expected more than 420 people to snap them up
but aye, why not put it somewhere easier to get to?

I think organisers of these events need to realise that just because its a "festival" and its in the Highlands it doesn't mean it will automatically be successful. Yes there are very successful festivals that go on in the Highlands but it is because they are good quality.
I'm a McFly fan and I'm disappointed obviously but the ticket prices were not value for money. As much as I hate to say it the majority of Scottish McFly fans will be in school or uni and have exams at the start of May. (most of McFly's tours are Oct/Nov or middle of the summer shows) And the Sugababes are completely pish now.
I don't think having it outside Nairn is the issue, that seemed to be the point that it was a festival for people from the Highlands. Just a shame no one actually was bothered about it.
It's been really poorly organised and they took the piss with announcing it was cancelled less than three weeks before it was due to go ahead.

Quelle surprise.
It was always going to happen, especially when they cancelled Sunday. Even before then it seemed that 9/10 folk had a "bad feeling" about it.
Atrocious planning, dreadful line-up (Vatersay Boys & Skerryvore aside), a real lack of information or sense of "event", piss-poor advertising, over priced... it goes on and on and on.
Thank goodness we've got Rockness & Belladrum (and the ICT gigs) up here, but is it any wonder that "big" acts don't bother their arse coming up this way often? Christ, I never thought I'd be happy to see Westlife up here but I really hope the Cawdor Castle gig is a HUGE success to prove to other bands/artists that they CAN have faith in Highland gigs.
The fact that the R4L website is just showing a logo and giving absolutely NO information is completely telling of the organisers ignorance and awful attitude towards those who had spent money on tickets, travel and accommodation. It's a disgrace. A complete disgrace
