Unfortunatley Q were right last year but have been wrong in the past. I would say MCR are definatley playing it's just a matter of whether they would headline.

Yeah MCR look like they'll be playing, that's why they kept posting Reading and leeds on their twitter website last year when they got approached.

i'd say mcr are more likely to be 2nd. I could see blink and greenday headlining different days (whilst they are quite similar, greenday have a stupid amount of crossover appeal) but to have all three as headliners would be rather odd, especially as it goes against the grain of the audience they're trying to cater for. In all honesty though, the festival would sell out if i was headlining all three days, half the people going don't really give a shit as long as there's one band they want to see.

I'm sorry but blink are no where near big enough to headline, maybe second at best but no way for main spot.
I think two of the headliners will be Kasabian and Green Day and I'm going to go for a outside shout at Linkin Park been the other purely because their new album is out this year

Looks like Green Day are a dead cert, which means I'll be getting at least a day ticket.
I think Foos will be one of the other headliners, with TCV on earlier in the day, and with QOTSA 2nd that day can be a Homme/Grohl love-in.
The third headliner, who knows? The Libertines are supposed to be reforming aren't they? Maybe it'll be them. Kasabian look less and less likely by the day. The Strokes could still pull it off although it'd look weak having both them and the Foos headline for the second time. Same applies to White Stripes and Green Day. Outside chances suggest R.E.M., Blur, whatever name Oasis will be under, Pixies, Linkin Park and Jay-Z.
It's a healthy sign that people are struggling to think who the "NME Indie" headliner could be.

That just makes no sense and its not you its just that is what everyone is think I cant see how Kasabian are big enough to headline any major festival where as blink I think definatley have a big enough fan base and alot more songs.
I would think blink headlining is fine but definatley not Kasabian that ridicuouls IMO

What about Weezer as a headliner are they big enough?

Wouldn't mind Jay Z, isn't he headlining Isle of Wight?

You obviously missed the fact that Kasabian were main support to Oasis, had a sold out arena tour?

Would be great, but I'm afraid not.
Unless you meant NME headliner, in which case they'd be a good choice. Otherwise, 4th/5th on Main.

Oh no, we'll still have the usual one-hit-wonder Indie bands taking up high slots on the Main Stage, don't worry.

Yeah, true actually.

Hard to tell what Julian meant at this time. Maybe he thought the interviewer asked what festivals they're headlining.
Or just that IOW and Rock Ness are the only two festivals they're doing so far this year, and haven't been booked for Reading and Leeds yet.

Kasabian = 3 top 5 albums (2 of which made number 1)
= 7 top 20 singles (4 top 10)
blink = 1 top 5 album
= 5 top 20 singles (2 top 10)
I think anyone who thinks blink are bigger in the uk than kasabian are letting personal preferences affect their judgement. Also weezerare great but nowehre near big enough to be even second headliners.

Dont think people take into account that American bands are more in demand than english bands so can pull a bigger crowd and demand a bigger spot simply because theres less of a chance to see them. With Travis' fear of flying aswell I cant imagine we'll be seeing Blink in Europe much at all after the summer.

DR OK, on Jan 10 2010, 10:06 PM, said:i definately agree with the first part. And i'm a massive fan of both blink and kasabian so there's no favourtisism from my argument. Kasabian are a strange one though, much as i love them they come out with all this spiel "all we want to do is headline", yet organisers seem hesitant to book them higher than 2nd. With this in mind, i don't think the new album has had such an impact to warrant them a headline slot now (although they could be booked, i'll concede razorlight had a big following in 07 but franz headlining in 06 came as a suprise to a lot of people).Dont think people take into account that American bands are more in demand than english bands so can pull a bigger crowd and demand a bigger spot simply because theres less of a chance to see them. Also, i just can't see blink playing and not headlining, reunions always mean a boost in public profile and i can't see a band who were threatening to crack the glass ceiling over half a decade ago coming back to an equal slot. I wouldn't complain though, blink in the tent would be crazy, but also a testament to how much the festival has changed since they last played.
