haha man, im only 18, was 17 last year
but i was at leeds this year camping in orange by the woods side, i think by about 4am when it started to get light, our tents were the only ones left alive in a 50m radius, it was ridiculous

Yeah, its been the same when I've gone...V's a lot more restrained but the line-ups have gone pants.

Bring on Kendal!

Hi There

I have just come across Kendal Calling and Im really thinking of coming.  Im use to going to the "bigger" festivals but have somewhat become frustrated by the fact they seem more interested in the commercial aspect rather than the true music lovers.

Question - Is this a more family friendly environment and therefore would you recommend it being suitable for my 4 year old daughter aswell.  I would never dream of taking her to one of the Glasto type festivals but as this appears a lot smaller and more intimate, I wonder what other peoples thoughts are especially if you have been to Kendal Calling before?

Thanks

Hi. We've never done Kendal Calling before but have got tickets this year and are taking our three kids, 11, 9 and 6. We've heard it is good for families. Solfest is another smaller festie that we have done with the kids and they loved it.

Can anyone tell me if we can take a caravan to Kendal Calling. We've bought a campervan ticket as we have booked to hire a VW camper but we're now in the process of buying a caravan and would prefer to take this. Thanks for any advice.

hi all, not sure about caravans (sorry!) but it seems a good festival for the kids. can't get my daughter to come with me though, she's worried about the camping and insects and spiders etc... !!!

i didn't manage to get early bird tickets despite being sat ready online, got full priced ones just a few minutes after nine and they're ticket numbers 101 and 102 so am wondering if there ever was 500 early birds to start with  :P

now am looking forward to hearing the line up !

see you in the fields  :P

Do you know what numbers the early bird tickets were? We got numbers 101 and 102 and those weren't early birds. Shouldn't there have been 500 early birds sold first?  We also tried buying them from 08.55 onwards, but up until 09.00 the website just said they weren't on sale yet. Then switched to sold out at 09.00

by two weeks ago last year we knew that the streets, cornershop, the yards, riot jazz and the kasms were playing (if not one or two more)

are we gonna get a little leak this year, or will it be april-ish time when we find out whose playing?

search kendal calling on the efestivals main site  :P

also, im kinda interested - with the 2000 capacity increase, is there going to be a larger traffic tent/more things to do 11-3, cause last year I remember it was packed full at that time, same with the welfare tent..

Oh I've heard some cracking rumours - Stanton Warriors (as main stage headliners), Queen (!!) and S-Club 7 (words can't describe..).

Sadly, or actually thankfully, there's no truth to those rumours!

We're working on announcing the lineup as soon as it's all come together, I assure you we aren't hoarding it for ourselves  :P  We were lucky last year with having The Streets confirm so early but that doesn't happen every year -  that was down to personal connections. Generally, on average, it's the first week or so of April - I have a feeling it may be earlier this year, but as it's in a way out of my hands I don't want to make any promises I can't keep.

Rest assured it will be great!

The Traffic tent has been increased in size quite considerably. In addition, the Kaylied roots & folky stage is now 3x bigger (Craig Charles closing set on the Sunday night was probably one of the best sets of the weekend - if you missed it you can check our video here and his video here - well worth viewing!).

So as well as the Dance tent and the Kaylied we've also got the solar powered Cafe Seren with both its stage and cinema, the Soapbox (comedy / spoken word to chill out to) and performances in the Holy Quail pub at the Campsite Green.. and quite a number of purely chill out places to have a brew and a chitchat.

These are all running til 3am every night as they did last year (actually I think the only new one is the Soapbox..) - hopefully that's enough choice!

nick cave is not playing , i heard it was grinderman.

Although cave with any band would be the best festival of the year .
Or even better cave and macgowan .

They should try and get john frusciante , now he has quit the chili peppers i am sure he will be free and cheap

If Nick Cave plays in any form the scream of delight that my girlfriend will make when I tell her will ensure that all I'll be able to hear the whole weekend will be ringing in my ears...
