We've sent out an email questionnaire this morning to all on our newsletter & we'll be planning the festival around your responses.

You're right about the underage drinking, whilst I didn't see it at KC I have witnessed it at other festivals this year and it can get annoying.

Some good suggestions on artists there. I was actually a dressed as a yeti for Flaming Lips on their last tour, dancing on stage throughout the show. Best gig ever and one I'll never forget.

Dream bands next year...Franz Ferdinand, Manics, Ian Brown, Nick Cave, Public Enemy, The Music, Flaming Lips, SFA's, Teenage Fanclub...(and get Wind-Up Birds, Our Fold & Underdogs back)...any one of the above would be great!

And please, please sort out the underage drinking!
Definitely get Our Fold back also Sound Of Guns,The Paris Riots,General Fiasco and Danananakroyd ,also on mainstage,Detroit Social Club,Twisted Wheel,Manics,P.I.L,Ian Brown,Charlatans,Echo and the Bunnymen,The Stranglers,The Gaslight Anthem ,Noel Gallagher and Stereo MCs doing a late late show in the dance tent.

Yeah...Lips live unlike anything else! Oh, forgot Elbow on my list but imagine they'd be a bit too big. Boy Least Likely To would probably go down well as well...they have that kind of party atmosphere.

And I Am Kloot!!!

theres two ways of stopping underage drinking, firstly is to be alot stricter in id'ing kids on the door with alcohol, and secondly is to restrict the amount of younger people coming in

a good way to stop large groups without restricting kids going would be to say anyone under the age of 18 has to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18, with upto 3 minors per adult?

while this wouldnt stop kids going with older siblings/mates (who are likely to be a bit more responsible), it stops groups of 20 15year olds turning up

Yeah...didn't Bestival do something similar this year?? Its not that you want to stop stop kids enjoying themselves, but when they get twisted on half a Carling and start ruining everybodies weekend it gets annoying. There was a big bunch of them next to us during Doves, be amazed if any of them were over 16, didn't know any of the songs, weren't paying attention...just acting like dicks and pissing everybody else off.

From the Bestival website:

All persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied at the festival by a parent or guardian over the age of 21. Plus, no more than four under 18s are allowed per parent or guardian.

I think thats the way to go really. Although it would restrict say, a group of 18 year olds with one person who had a late august birthday - would have stopped one of my mates this year.

Yeah...that and different coloured wrist bands for under 18's so they can't get served booze when they get in.

Hard one though innit...I think its good that you've got under 18's getting into decent music at such a young age so you don't wanna put them off...but similarly you don't want festivals full of rejects from the cast of Skins totally off their faces for the weekend causing havoc

I'm nipping off to see The Bays down at the Houseparty in London in a second so I'll be quick - we've just released the following videos on ewetube:

Doves - Spaceface
Badly Drawn Boy - About a Boy
Doves - Catch the Sun
Chiddy Bang - Fresh Like Us
The Futureheads - Beginning of the Twist
Exit Calm - We're on Our Own
Scratch Perverts - Live at Kendal Calling

Also, thanks for everyone who took part in the survey, there's some very interesting feedback in there and we'll be discussing it shortly.

They put a Facebook message on yesterday saying early 2011...I'm more excited about that than Xmas!!!

Predictions for bands Levellers/Elbow/Flaming Lips/Super Furrys/Teenage Fanclub/Roots Manuva/Nick Cave/Public Enemy/The Music/Lines/Manics/Ian Brown/Bombay Bicycle Club/Wind-Up Birds/Our Fold/Underdogs

Any combo from that lot and I'll be happy!

Aye that's right - tickets will be announced early next year along with a few acts I hope.

I have the pleasure of announcing that Kendal Calling 2010 has managed to raise £9000 for charity - that's £5000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust, £2000 for the Northwest Air Ambulance and £2000 for Penrith Lions Club - good going people and thank you!

PS - it's probably time to move to a 2011 thread isn't it?

didn't they do this at the last KC at grate farm? I seem to remember a couple of my friends ended up being given kids wrist bands plus another paper one cos they'd run out of adult bands

Must be a hard one to win as well there are so many of 'em...whereas major festivals you've only got 4 or 5
