I know its traditional to have reading where it is, but to have only one open stage is pretty disgraceful.
all the other major festivals have 2 or more open stages, seems a big naff and doesnt help the over crowding in the radio one tent at all.
the bands that play the second stage now would much prefer an open stage im sure, and even though its good when its raining im sure people woulr prefer it open.
or do people prefer the closed environment of a tent.

Most bands sound much better in a tent then out in the open. They could always get a bigger tent. I think a lot of the sound is lost in the open.

I've always prefered the tent for atmosphere and sound

They would only move to crowd more people onto the campsite, they don't give a f**k how many people can fit in a tent, they just want the money, otherwise they'de downsize the campiste and make way for a open air second stage

Open stages arent all that IMO
sound quality in the NME tent is excellant IMO, especially compared to the main

The sound quality of Reading's one open air stage is pretty poo.
Why would we want a second?

Reading is fine as it is - the BBC Introducing stage is pretty an outdoor stage.

Yeah, I've always liked the atmosphere in the NME tent.
If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The tent is much better than an outside stage IMO much better atmosphere and good shelter if it's pissing down.

keep it the way it is. Must admit the selfish c**t inside me had a chuckle as it started to rain during placebo's set and i knew i was going to be watching the r1 bands whilst everyone at the main stage got soaked. Plus, since the tent got bigger it's the size of an arena now anyway (this is at leeds, not that i'm complaining about a big tent, the old one was dangerously small and got packed out far too much). Plus it's a winner if it's windy, ever tried watching a band with wind thrown into the equation? you can't hear jack shit

I think the tent aswell as an ope stage has it's plus points but i'm only talking about Leeds here I think the set up for the stages and tents are damn near perfect no need for change
