Hi all.  Don't post on here v. often but would be great if you could help us out. Me and a few mates were planning to go Lowlands, but didn't pull our fingers out in getting tickets and it's now sold out! So now thinking about Pukkelpop, from what I understand they tend to get a pretty similar line-up to lowlands?

Just wondering how practical it would be to tie in a trip to Amsterdam? Have any of you done this before?
And also am i right in thinking you can't bring your own alcohol to the campsite, coz that's the impression I got from the Pukkelpop website!?

Any help much appreciated  :P :P

Yeah thats what I did, eurostar into Brussels and then train up to amsterdam (about 3 hours) for the weekend before Pukkelpop, before heading back to Brussels to explore and ride the pee'ing dog before hitting the festival!

I had no trouble bringing booze into the campsite, they do search bags on the way in but I dont think it was for booze...

(here's the sign outside the camp site)

Has Pukkelpop sold out? it says online sales have ended on their website?? if there are still ticks could anyone enlighten me as to where to obtain them?

Thanks a lot.

We stayed at the Century last year and spent a fair few hours in Hasselt Square, if we do go (and its looking likely), then will have to arrange meeting up on the square for a few beers before heading up to the festival.

Definitely! We'll have to get the beer plans together nearer the time.

I think it's taken quite a few people by surprise just how quickly Lowlands has sold out  :P A few years ago the line ups were pretty much the same but last year there was quite a lot of difference at the top of the bill. Although they both had Arctic Monkeys and Faith No More headlining, there were a good few bands that played Lowlands and not Pukkelpop (and vice versa). There's probably still about 70% overlap between the two festivals but they both have a great line up year after year so I wouldn't be too concerned.

As anx has said, it really wouldn't be any hassle at all to visit Amsterdam, either before or after Pukkelpop. We went for a couple of days afterwards in 2007 and I still fly in and out of Schiphol every year. We hire a car from the airport and drive down to Hasselt but it wouldn't cost too much to take the train, plus it's free once you get over the border into Belgium. I can't say for certain but I would guess there are more flights to Amsterdam from the UK than Brussels or any of the other airports in Belgium, and it's probably cheaper too. If I was able to (actually, make that allowed to :P ) I would definitely stay for a couple of days afterwards to chill out.

That probably refers to last year. Tickets will go on sale the first week of May so no need to panic yet  :(

You can now submit your requests for who you would like to see play at Pukkelpop this summer. It's only on the Dutch section of the website at the moment but it's still pretty easy to understand and fill in. I don't know how much notice they take (especially considering bands have already been booked) but my choices this year are:

1) Leftfield
2) Orbital
3) The Prodigy (this is definitely the last year I put them down :P )
4) LTJ Bukem
5) Fred Falke

The first announcement for V was made tonight and there's usually a few bands that play Pukkelpop first each year. From the line up I would be happy to see Passion Pit, Madness, Groove Armada, White Lies, Chase and Status and obviously The Prodigy. Just as long as David Guetta, Scouting for Girls, Cheryl Cole and Sugababes are nowhere near Belgium that weekend  :P

Hi! Will be looking at this thread closely, thanks to everyone that has provided info so far, I have all the intention of going to Pukkelpop for the first time this year, all the way from Mexico! Already booked the ibis hotel, hopefully won't be too hard to get tickets, which leads me to a question I have..

do you have to buy the tickets directly on the festival website? do they send the tickets or is there an option to pick them up at some box office?

thanks!

You can get them posted to you but the best option will be to print the tickets out yourself. This is what I do each year and it's no hassle at all. Make sure though that you only buy tickets from the link that will be on the official website and nowhere else.

The 'pick 5 bands' thing is now also on the English language part of the website.
Sorry folks, but I went for:
A Silver Mt Zion
Mogwai
Spiritualized
Damo Suzuki
And some cnut that will remain nameless that I had to vote for for the wife.

I'd be happy to see a fair few of those on the line up this summer, particularly Hot Chip, Groove Armada, Aeroplane, Lindstrom & Christabelle, Leftfield, Orbital, Martyn, Goose, Netsky and Major Lazer  :P

This does look like the kinds of acts that could realistically play, do you know something we don't Juan maclean  :P  :P

Juan Maclean has no idea. He just looked in the forums and decided to have his moment of glory here inventing 50 bands that will play in Pukkelpop. At least i know that 3 of that bands wont be this year touring in europe. Go to hell Maclean!
