It's nearly 2010 and I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any band that may be playing this (2010) year ?

just the usual generic indie/rock garbage floating about.
hope this helps.

The only band i can think of that has been cropping up alot is Foo Fighters, but ya, we got nothing yet.

Normally there would be a few names floating about so far but this year it is quite quiet.

I think it might be a confusing year for reading/leeds with sonisphere and download getting the more heavier band, and even less rocky bands.
also with glastos 40th year alot of the indie bands will want to do that.

Maccabees look almost certain to play

IMO Id expect the following to play
Babyshambles
The Maccabies
Dizzee Rascal
The Strokes
The Drums
Biffy Clyro
Stereophonics
Paramore
The Enemy
The Hives
Weezer
Bombay Bicycle Club
Sum 41
You Me At Six
The Streets
The Wombats
The Big Pink
My Chemical Romance
Lost Prophets
and maybe Blink 182
Can see days being
Blink 182 [if they play otherwise the rest with MCR headlining]
My Chemical Romance
Paramore
Weezer
Sum 41
The Hives
The Strokes
Stereophonics
The Enemy
Babyshambles
Dizzee Rascal
???? 3rd headliner I have no idea, maybe Foos, Muse or Green Day
Lost Prophets
Biffy Clyro

I still think Jay-Z will headline one day. He's playing IOW, I think he'll play TITP aswell.

Due to R/L's need for "exclusives" I'd say we can rule out as headliners:
Jay Z *
The Strokes*
Rammstein
Iron Maiden
AC/DC
Green Day
Muse
And due to Soni's exclusivity rule:
Placebo
Slayer
Alice Cooper
Anthrax
Motley Crue
*may still be sub headliners
In terms of surprises I wouldn't rule out:
Linkin Park (would make sense to have Jay Z below them)
REM
Kiss
White Stripes
Guns 'n' Roses

I wonder if they've enquired as to if Blur are available. I know it is highly unlikely, especially with trhem all having various projects on next year but it would be worth the organisers asking as they'd be a massive draw.

Bit of a random idea but what would people think to a Noel Gallagher solo set? Could possibly sit 3rd from top on the main stage. Ive seen him do one in the past and he was outstanding! Would be something a bit different and probably be a bit of a coup for the festival!

seeing as they couldn't have them for 2009 when they wanted them, I reckon Green Day are just about bolted on for 2010.

I think it could be Jay-z. two bands I think will be same as other festivals and one uk exclusive. Jay-z will not second headline anyone. he's headlined glast and his ego too big. he's amazing live seen him twice. noel gallagher is a good shout, nme subheadline or 3/4 main stage

Not impossible to happen again.

And Jay Z JUST supported Coldplay, in the UK, this very year.

someone a bit different like Jay-z, hell maybe not as a headliner but Kanye West puts on a great live show. REM would be special, band i've always wanted to see, and after radiohead last year, seems any sort of band can play Reading these days.

Jay Z won't headline because he's at Isle of White, and they don't share headliners.
It's a strange situation this year cos every Christmas for the last 3 years I've had a fairly solid idea of at least two of the headliners (last year Arctic Monkeys and KOL were pretty nailed on, the year before Rage and Metallica, the year before that Smashing Pumpkins and Razorlight), but this year it's a lot harder to predict. If I had to say now it would be Foo Fighters, Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance but I'm not that confident on any of those really.

Are you sure ??? Last year they had The Prodigy that played everywhere & Neil Young who also did Glastonbury & Hard Rock Calling. I haven't seen anywhere that Jay-Z is exclusive to IOW although I may be wrong?
