Yeah totally agree.....there is no way the big 4 will play all the other sonispheres in europe but not the 'biggest/main sonisphere' at knebworth. Metallica will play as a 'secret act' like at Download a few years ago or a 'special guest' sort of thing. i'l bet any money on this
Heres why Metallica will play:
1. No UK dates announced yet
2. Sonisphere are saying if u buy a knebworth ticket now theyl give u a free Poland Sonisphere ticket
to see the Big4 which happens to be around Download time - So people will buy a UK soni ticket and go to see The Big4 in poland in june also, this could steal a lot of the Download crowd as most people cant afford both fests....and once the big 4 have played poland & once Download has finished they'll annouce Metallica for UK Sonisphere - good business plan!
3. With AC/DC now playing Download - UK Sonisphere know theyr gona need something extra special to pull out of the hat - & the Metallica / Big4 is that Rabbitt in the hat - & with Metallica signing that 3 year Soni contract shouldnt be too hard to pull off
4. There is no way that the Big4 are playing all the little sonispheres throughout Europe but not the big main 3 day Sonisphere at Knebworth
5. Metallica would be happy to accept a lower slot on the bill as proved with the secret slot at Download in 03 i think it was
So i reckon u will see Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax all listed on the same day & all on the 2nd stage with the 2nd stage headliner listed under the name 'special guest or secret band' (u heard it here first!)

The Big Four Will Not Play The UK Together
And we’ve got the reason right here.
Word has reached Metal Hammer that ‘The Big Four’ will not be playing the UK this summer. As you are all now aware, Megadeth have been confirmed for Download and Anthrax and Slayer will be at Sonisphere.
What we have just been made aware of is that Download have an agreement with Megadeth that ensures that the only UK festival that you will be able to see Mustaine and co at this summer will be Download.
As previously announced, Slayer and Anthrax are UK festival exclusives to Sonisphere.
It goes without saying that this ensures that ‘The Big Four’ will not share the stage at any UK festivals this summer.
Looks like it’s Euro road-trips to Sonisphere Europe all around then.
Gutted!

Question remains, where are Metallica gunna turn up? If they turn up at either.
I really don't think Download has Metallica, if they do it will be a surprise set again, I hope they play Soni on the Friday. Think Soni needs a bit more beef now after Downloads announcement.
EDIT- JUst heard the next Soni announcement is mid Feb
