Okay, if you remove that element then a whole lot of the oft breathy but powerful vocals, conventional indie-band backing, similar sounding song structures, crossover appeal for radio/clubs/live etc prevail. Admittedly it is fleshed out electronically a bit more but comparisons are easily drawn.

As i have said there will be comparisons to other bands such as the Cure and New Order etc,  just don't think they sound like Friendly Fires at all , especially Ed Mcfarlanes vocals. As with Friendly fired though they have a first album hit with singles from that and tour all the fests with much praise but the difficulty
will be in following it up.

i dont get the appeal, if you like proper dance/electro music this is proper tame....

its one for the pop crowd really. so they'll probably be massive! indie pop music sells.


I hate it when bands masquerade as a dance act when they are really not even close....

end of the day their stage production will get tons of money thrown at it, they are already on TV ads and and will be popular because they are getting loads of money thrown at them!! seen this whole promo thing before...

oh yeah they dont sound like Friendly fires, and friendly fires are a lot better!! they have proper electronic music influences. delphic clearly dont.

When I first heard "this momentary", first band I thought of was "Friendly Fires"

BTW I think the Album a cracker, Acolyte is a little gem, and I'm pissed that they have sold out at the cockpit in leeds, so Im hoping they play glasto

Yeah I know , it was late, I watched the jools thing and just thought ...well bland indie band( and I am quite into indie ) with some synths added on to be slightly different

I watched them on Jools Holland and they seemed average but I think the OP is right they will be massive in 2010, like, Friendly Fires style massive (and FF are quite decent). I can imagine they would be playing on The Other Stage if they release an album because they sound like they could really do well, they've got that cool, slick image. (Please note that this is not a dig before you go at me) and most people seem to enjoy that Indie Electronica vibe. I wouldn't really rush to see them if they played personally but I'm sure they would go down well with other Glasto goers. (Can't really say the younger crowd cause I'm young myself  )

On a side note, it really grates on me when people describe gigs as being "Like a rave". I don't know why but it just makes me cringe, or maybe I just need to get out more.

I saw them supporting Doves, and thought they were bloody good. Orbital meets New Order pretty much sums it up. The beats and the dreamy cross-rhythm chiming loops are straight out of the Orbital playbook, and the songs and the voice are very New Order. Neither of these are bad things!

The live drumming is delightfully intense. The rest of the band drifts from playing electric guitar and bass, to manning sequencers and Kaoss pads. It makes for a good show. The singer plays bass...

I don't think they have as much impact on record as they do live. But I definitely enjoyed them live and loud at the Leamington Assembly.

*Possibly* the impact might be lost on a big stage such as the Pyramid/Other.

I was at the GMEX gig in December and wasn't that impressed with them as a live act.  I quite like the music and they were pretty tight on stage, but they had little presence and didn't interact with the audience much.  Drummer is already a legend to me though.  Agree thay'll be huge in 2010 as they're already on the "Radio 1 Make Someone Famous This Year" list - which if I'm honest usually puts me off a band.

BTW, Doves and Super Furry's were both great at the GMEX.  Worth the trip from Sheffield by train.

Really just getting into the album, sounds great and interesting point about being lost on the Pyramid ( a la Fleet foxes?!)

Yes I was at that gig in December and whilst only saw the last 15 mins I agree there is some great potential there, I also liked the way they interchanged and would definately check them out again

I didn't think much of the album at first, few stand out tracks but felt a bit samey. But I saw them in Wigan the other night and they are so much better live, they put on a really good show and live the music really comes alive.

Saw them at Dingwalls and it was the best gig for a new act I've been to in ages. Be great to see them at Glasto.
