The announcement will most likely be this. I think Met.com jumped the gun a bit. Still more dates for the big 4 to be added (festival ones) and the only UK fest all 4 could play is sonisphere - due to Anthrax and Slayer being exclusives.
And remember if you bought or are buying a Soni UK ticket - you can apply and be one of a few thousand to receive a Poland Soni ticket, where the big 4 are playing

Id love those four as an undercard under Rammstein or Iron Maiden or even play the Friday, I know its Alice Cooper but it just seems an opporuntity missed!

Big 4 in Poland, and if you buy your Sonisphere for UK before the end of the month you are GUAREENTED a ticket to Sonisphere Poland
Thats a great deal really, just have to pay for travel and maybe a hotel?
Anyone looked into that aspect of the offer a bit?

The newspiece originaly about the offer had travel/hotel deals:
3 star hotel + flight for £101
5 star hotel + flight for £119
Not bad for that calibre of acts

Seriously hope this comes to the UK.
Looks like the order is Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax - is that right? I would've thought Megadeth would be under Metallica, but to be honest I don't know much about metal so I could be wrong. I remember finding it odd that Megadeth didn't headline Download when they played, maybe my whole view of things is wrong.

Andy Copping [Download booker if you didn't know] had this to say tonight
"Sonisphere Knebworth does NOT have the Big Four...it is yet again another big spin by them to try and spoil the Download party. We will party on as per normal thank you very much. In fact, is the Big Four that great?? Also, I want to say a big slap on the wrists to AC/DC for stating on their website that they were playing Download! What was that all about?? I know it's the 30th Anniversary of Donington and it's also the 30th Anniversary of 'Back In Black' (which is the second biggest selling album of all time, only behind Michael Jackson's 'Thriller')...maybe they were thinking they would walk out onto the hallowed turf at the 'spiritual home of rock' which is Castle Donington and play, as part of their show, the 'Back In Black' album in full and in sequence?? Now wouldn't that be something? What must that most awesome band been thinking of??? Hey ho...I love dreams. I always do my best to make them come true. Andy (Maverick)"

Not bothered about AC/DC at all. Wouldn't be too surprised if Metallica did turn up though. I know Download's lineup has been weaker in the past few years, but this whole "30th anniversary of rock" thing might sway some bigger names. I hope so, I'll probably go to Download next year if there's enough to attract me.

To me it sounds as if AC is the one trying to do the whole spin thing. Nowhere did sonisphere claim to have the big 4 at Knebworth. They announced the big 4 will be playing Poland (which you can get a free ticket for ofcourse), which is an amazing deal. AC just sounds bitter tbh, if he could have gotten the big 4 to play at download, he'd make a massive deal out of it. Methinks the whole losing Rammstein out to sonisphere (especially as sonisphere apparently nabbed them from Downloads clutches last minute), has left him a bit annoyed. Especially since he feels the need to randomely take a shot at sonisphere, and thats the first thing he does - as if its his priority, over sorting out the Download news
AC/DC are awesome, but its only one band. Its also hilarious the amount of, OMFG SONISPHERE HAZ BEEN DESTORYED type comments, imo Iron Maiden and Rammstein are > AC/DC on their own, but it looks as if Download could end up with a decent lineup this year (as far as headliners go anyways, imo) so I'm just happy at the prospect of TWO festivals I can enjoy potentially - as I'm sure both will be great in their own ways.

I know you love Soni but I think you are loosing perspective on how big this announcement is!!
Also think ACDC going to DL is a much bigger coup and draw than the big 4 in another country.

Well I saw AC/DC this year, and they were awesome. And I look forward to seeing them at Download, but they alone arent enough for me to put money down on a weekend ticket - I'll definetly get a dayticket for the friday.. If the other two headliners are good and the undercard is good, I will most certainly be there for the whole weekend though.
Also I wasn't saying the big 4 in EU sonis is a big coup for Sonisphere UK, it obviously isn't (though it is a big news story, and a good coup for sonisphere overall). Although they could all end up at Sonisphere UK. And tbh at the moment I'm more excited about Iron Maiden and Rammstein, than AC/DC, and if the big 4 end up at soni UK, I'd say Iron Maiden + Rammstein + Big 4 is much better than AC/DC. Thats just my opinion though.

Id love Motorhead but I think they're gunna play Download. Mind you they're not seen as quite that big a band anymore, lower on the line ups, might be able to play both like Limp Bizkit and Buckcherry last year
