whilst having my Glasto partners in crime over for the weekend, and of course talking about little else, at about 1am sunday morning after many bottles of red wine, we stuck on the film

apart from being a brilliant film it captures the festival mood so well and there are countless funny and touching moments, it probably comes as close as you can to capturing 'Glastoburyness'

it seems to get better every time you watch it and the outright wonder of what Sir Michael does every year becomes more and more apparent.  what a hero he really is

i suppose many of us on here own the film and watch it occasionally but i'm wondering what others think about it. its release in 2006 certainly helped get me through a 2 year gap so over to you guys for some informed discussion, or not as the case may be :P

and if the lad at the beginning who asks ME in his landrover if he's been to many Glastonburys, and thinks its overated, is on here or anyone knows him..

Personally I like the brief interview with the two West Country bog cleaners on there . . Hilarious!

Anyway, to some extent I still prefer the 1996 "Glastonbury Movie" release (suppose that's me showing my age), and have been watching a lot of the extended stuff on the orange DVD Box Set version of this lately. Interesting was an old interview with Eavis from around 1993/4 on there, where he said how he was such a poor dairy farmer really which meant the farm was always loosing money and he had to diversify into something, which for him meant holding an annual music festival.

I enjoy it - always good to stick it on in the build up.

The bit I like best is with those acrobats strung up from those gigantic inflatable ball things gliding down and touching hands with the people on the ground.  The music that plays during that bit is beautiful too.

Does anyone know what year this was?  Or where it was?  Or what the music is?

I just love it.

Yep i've got it to, the bog cleaners are hilarious, what an odd bod family :P I love the bit when that geezer who's out of his nut in the crowd realises , or hasn't got a clue, you decide, that there is a camera on him and goes crazy to the music, cant remember the group, though think it might be " so you wanna be a rock star" by Cyrus Hill.
My Brother and his son are coming next year as first timers so i have bought it for them as an xmas stocking filler.

Heh - I come from just outside Bath originally, just up the road from Glasto, and there are always many examples of characters such as these in the local villages. That guy reminds me of Sloth from The Goonies.

On a related theme - does anyone remember the 'Ghostbusters' turdis cleaners, as people used to call them - the guys who went around with a big discenfectant backpack, kicked open each door, and just blitzed the whole chamber with a handheld wand spray (therefore very reminisent of the Ghostbusters 'Proton Packs')?

That wandering baloon with acrobat was 2002 I thought - I'm sure those big spikey inflatables at the top of the circus field that you also see in the shots were from 2002.

Bought last year on the run up partly cause It was my first glasto and i wanted to get into the spirit of it but also my friends dad is in it briefly smoking some shtuff and pulling a stupid face at the tent... if any of you can remember it as it is literally a 2 or 3 second appearance.

I believe they got something like 4 free tickets cause their footage wa sused in it.

Great wee documentary... good for newbies (like myself) to get into it all and learn about how it started and what it's all about but also the oldies that have been going all these eyars.

Def recommended.

I saw it in HMV for about 2.99 or something, but theres a special edition lurking around for a tenner. I sort of hinted as  a stocking filler which why I don't have it yet.

Ive lost the disc for my copy and only watched it once just before last years festival : (
I paid £20 for it in HMV as i was desperate to see it, which makes it even more annoying!

Its on Amazon @ £ 6.48 .

I'm after Glastonbury "the movie" to make the pair. I've hinted at a prezzie from someone.

:P That's the one! I never forget a face. "Father, I killed a man!"

Imagine the door being kicked open to reveal him staring at you whilst you are pinching one off inside one of the turdi.
