Well, it's mostly a bit of fun.
I would find it really amusing if it succeeds. So I'm happy to shell out 99p on iTunes to be part of it.

I think a lot of people are getting way to wound up about the whole thing though, including Cowell :P

A sucsess for Sony Records, who is also part owned by Simon Cowell himself.

I'm prettey sure Simon Cowell couldn't give two shits about this because he's getting money from it anyway. :P

I'm with you on this...Its not well thought out at all, best way to hurt Simon Cowel is to ignore him.

I think its great when something that starts off as a bit of fun can transform into something as big as this through the internet, especially as it has also raised a sizeable chunk of money for charity. Although half the things written on the FB page wall do make me cringe

Radio 1 and the relentless ear bashing stations linked with capital have been having their say on the charts pretty much forever X factor is just getting to the top of the worst pile of crap for Christmas - who gives a f**k!, let them, and keep rage as far away as possible!.

Said with lots of love obviously!

I disagree completely. Simon Cowell has already got very annoyed by this campaign. I'm going to buy the song just so that all the people in my office talk about something different on a Monady morning rather than how great X factor is. I can just hear them now 'Ooh who are these Rage Against a Machine and why isn't my X Factor favourite number one with that amazing Hannah Montana cover'

I still cant see how it would be good having a cynical band at number one like ratm.

at least xfactor not trying to say one thing thing and doing the opposite. they know what there about and so do the peole buying there stuff.

Gotta be worth 67p of anyone's money to wipe the smug smile off Cowell's face (and yes I know he claims it doesn't bother him/he owns half of Sony - whatever). Its a bit of fun, people power versus the most cynically impressive marketing machine the UK music industry has seen since stock aitken and waterman!

I don't watch the X Factor.  What song is it that RATM is up against?

I really don't see why this is on Efest, does it have any bearing on Glastonbury...if it does then please explain what???. I really don't care what Number One is over Xmas, or for that matter anytime. Its the quality of the artist and there material that count, and even some of the worst acts we have seen at Glastonbury are better than most of the stuff in the so called charts of today. The likes of X Factor, and all the other music / reality shows have killed off the chats and decent TV today.

"wouldn't it be a bit more worthy (farm) to buy this Chase the tear all proceeds going to amnesty.... obviously a bit late now but you know why not buy it anyway" (bad quote added it whilst editing) < this  would be better, but my god is it an awful song

Yep +1.
I'm not mad about this R.A.T.M. number but I do like the whole principle of it!

Otherwise it's Joe thingy who won X-Factor will be number 1 (yes sadly I watched the final so I know these things), his single got released tonight & already available as a download  :P

Or shall we just let Susan Boyle get to no. 1?!  :P

.... nah, I'll buy 'Killing In The Name'... just on principle too as well then  :P

There is one here:

I see no reason to keep this thread open.
