Right, as the title suggests I'm considering backpacking or bike riding to Glastonbury this year and getting sponsorship to give to the charities the festival supports. I was wondering if anyone had info on how i'd go about organising it, or whether others would be interested in joining in. It could be a group of us?! Has anyone done anything like this before on here? Any info would be fantastic!

I was actually thinking about doing this myself, long way to go from Liverpool though!  The worst would be after the festival, when all you want to do is get into bed and sleep for 2 days straight, then you realise you've got a big f**k off bike to ride back home!  :P

Good idea though, I'll keep my eyes on this thread .

sustrans have organised group bike rides to other festivals.  it's a wonderful sight to see 100 cyclists arrive on site tonight.

Good idea and good luck. Think I'd arrange alternative transport for the way home though. :P

HAHA, I think I'd hitch a ride back with my uncle tbf! Couldnt take it after the weekend I will have. The sustrans site looks quite interesting, I think I will take a deeper look into that. I would be doing the ride from Birmingham, a whole 106 miles! Also I was wondering whether the good kind old folks on efestivals would be willing to sponsor this if it does indeed go ahead (of which I have every intention of doing so!).

Wow, I thought there would have been more interest in supporting this tbh.

I was thinking of doing this for my own entertainment, but no one in the UK picks up hitchers anymore do they? Having said that I have seen quite a few more hitchers popping there little thumbs up recently.
