Craig Finn is definately my favourite lyricist, they were ment to play the pyramid stage in 2008 but turned it down due to other commitments, however I reckon they would really pull it off headlining the john peel stage whilst Muse are on or something (I DON'T have a problem with Muse anymore, but I think it would be a GREAT alternative) They did a gig recently so their obviously a current touring band, not on hiatus or anything. I also believe (I wasn't there) that they played a belter in 2007 in the pissing rain of biblical preportions.

What does everyone think? Would you go watch them if they headlined the John Peel?

A band we agree on!  I'd definitely go and see them unless they clashed with anything good in Avalon/Jazzworld/Acoustic.  Saw them twice this year, in Falmouth and in Islington and both were great shows, reckon they and Gaslight Anthem both have a good shout of being John Peel stage headliners or halfway up the bill on The Other Stage.

yeah, they were great in '07. the tent wasn't particulary full though, it would be better with more people.
i missed the 1st song as i was at the bar and i remember trudging through the mud to get there to the sound of Chips Ahoy!

Had to misfortune of seeing these guys at the End of the Road festival. Didn't like them at all.
Far too American for my liking and their songs all sound the same.

I love Boys and Girls in america but my favourite Hold Steady album by far is Seperation Sunday. Not that fond of Stay Positive, I found it really samey to the rest of the album. Still absolutely brilliant though. There aint nothing better then a PROPER rock band, none of that indie rubbish like The Fratellis and The Courteeners.

Nah, they're not a patch on Pearl Jam.  Think folks say they like the Hold Steady to sound trendy.  MOR rock died in the 80's but some folks just can't get over it  :P

Leave me alone or I will personally hire hitmen to come over to your house and take all your belongings then kidnap you. Then they will take you to a place where you will be locked in a room with Gok Wan and Sting going on at you till the day you die. Then when you are in heaven I will make sure that you have to listen to an album of Take That and Simply Red songs back to back on repeat.

I am a massive fan of the last two albums. I Would probably see them if they headlined the JP, could see them putting on a great show

JP headliners against U2 would suit me fine although given they've been playing some pretty small venues recently I'm not sure they'd be billed that high.
