By far my favourite part of glasto. When I'm not watching bands on the main stages you will find me here. Love the vibes. Love the fact that you can just bimble about anywhere and stumble across something quirky or downright amazing. Found loads of stuff that I really liked including a Botswanian poet in the poetry tent, and stumbled across Adam and Joe telling jokes in the cabaret tent which was a nice surprise, heard about them doing this on BBC 6 and thought that I was never going to be able to see them but I actually stumbled in the tent by mistake!

So my question is, who would you like to see playing this year? What are your favourite bits of the circus feilds?

Cheers,
BlackHole2006

Gareth Jones and the other bloke who compere on the Outside Circus Stage between the acts.  Damn, damn funny.

Spent lots of time in the field next door (Bella's Field?  The one between the Circus field and Acoustic anyway) watching all the acts go up and down.  I got kissed by a headless ghost!

lol I expected more clowns, juggling elephants, fire breathing trapeze artists etc, but I reckon I was holding out for a little too much.
Although, some guy who mangaged to squeeze himself into a giant balloon (which he blew up with his nose lol) and change his clothes while he was in there, whilst bouncing about ... really made me laugh. :P
I only ended up in the tent because I couldn't get anywhere near Rolf (Gutted).  :P

2009 highlight was after Brendon Burns' set on the Saturday night in the cabaret tent, Ed Byrne came out and did a bit of a Burns Vs Byrne session to a huge crowd that had flooded in after the main headlines had finished. Despite protestations that they had run out of material the crowd wouldn't let them leave the stage so they started doing remixes of each others material which was jolly fantastic.

2008 I really enjoyed the unique styling of the Baseline Circus. It brought the crowd right into the performance area and mixed it with some unusual and entertaining comparing. I didn't see anything there this year but the new dome looked fantastic and put my attempt and a geodesic dome to shame

Their Dome

My Dome

Another of my favourite bits of the circus tents are the girls that twizzel up and down those ribbon things in ways that defy physics.

I dunno about that Stuzo, you're dome doesnt look half bad. Do you put it up at Glasto?

Anyways, back to the the Circus Feilds. Why stop there. Most of the south eastern quarter of Glastonbury is my favourite stomping ground. Trash and Shangri-la included. Lost of alternative to music entertainment, plus great smaller venues for bands you've never heard of.

I recommend Strummersville. Stand behind the small crowd sitting on the comfy furniture by the fire and eventually you'll get a good seat. The stage takes up the same amount of space as a settee, and most of the acts are plain simple singer song writers. It's a great vibe.

Also, the last three years 'Twisted Cabaret' have headlined the theatre stage (Astrolab?) It's hard to convey their show, suffice to say it's a twist on traditional circus acts - juggling - knife throwing - fire eating plus etc, with a great theme holding it all together.

I'm thinking open air stage! :P

And the circus feilds are excellent, loads of feilds to explore, and right near the avalon stage too if you fancy a bit of music! Lovely! and Cheap food!!

I will make it my mission to find the strummerville stage this year!

2009 walking through the Caberet and Circus fields and stumbling across the Ivan Brackenbury Hospital Radioshow on one of the new stages near to the Ped Gate C. I was not alone in nearly wetting myself listening to this guys set, it was one of the funniest comedy sets I've listened to.
