Yes, thats a good point of course because if you dont live within striking distance of London... accomadation costs will rocket up your weekend spend. PLus the lash water will be extortionate I suppose.
Glad I`m not 17 anymore  :P

One of the reasons the lineups for hard rock calling and now high voltage are aimed at an older generation to say, leeds/reading festival i guess (luckily my parents decided to go to hard rock last year so i managed to tag along.. im halfway persuading them to go to high voltage hah)

I can't understand why more people aren't posting about this festival. This is the best line-up of bands I can think of since the classic Knebworth shows of the 70's. My only gripe so far is that there's not even a whiff (so far) of dance or world music on display, but maybe that's a bit too much to ask from Classic Rock who have clearly identified a market of ageing rockers (like me) to whom this is absolute manna from Heaven (or should that be Hell). If I was asked to curate a festival it would look a lot like this with the addition of a cross genre dance stage loaded with psytrance, progressive and dub acts - certainly some reggae. Anyway, I urge you to make a headband from the dog's collar if you have to and let your freak flag fly. This will be the best weekend of 2010.

Not all of us young folk have bad taste. This festival is shaping up to be pretty good. Would particularly like to see ELP, Heaven & Hell, Down, Clutch, Venom, Zappa Plays Zappa and Bachman & Turner.

H&H... RJD is still having treatment for his cancer, a bit optimistic to have them on the bill.

Heaven and Hell are confirmed as playing on the Saturday which means there seems to be a big gap on the main stage before ELP. Any suggestions? I'd say that Journey have to be a distinct possibility with the exposure that they are getting in the UK right now  - their Greatest Hits CD appeared in the local Tesco Metro the other day much to my delight.

Make a mental note to see Focus if you can- they are just great live - the guitarist will scorch your synapses!

Very expensive festival, good line-up or not - I think they'll struggle with numbers

It's unfortunate Sonisphere is the following weekend - it could take a lot of potential punters with very strong headliners. How many people could afford the two (or get a pass from the better half!)

Apparently Mott The Hoople were down to play:

Ian Hunter interview

Had they been, this would have been a lineup for the ages (for the right crowd, of course...)

true.....i guarentee youl be able to get in free to High Voltage without much effort. Like Soni last year it will undersell by quite a lot basically because it is very expensive for what it is, hardly anybody has even heard of it and like you say its a week before Sonisphere.....and just like sonisphere last year will prob have to give away thousands of tickets in competitions a fortnight before. I've already seen loads of High Voltage 'win tickets' competitions already! Mark my words if your names got a 'vowel' in it, congratulations you've already won a ticket  :P ....well they'l either do this which will at least raise the profile for next year or they may just cancel it altogether
