when i saw them last year it was the first time i'd ever saw them. Then they started halcyon and i was lovin it. Then i thought i heard heaven is a place on earth. I thought that can't be right, then i heard that awful bon jovi song aswell. I then relised they were mixing them into halcyon. Stupid. Why do that. Ruin a perfect tune with utter rubbish pop stuff. That was the low point of the gig, the rest of it was great.

I think they used to shoe-horn the Darkness in there too.

I've heard a rumour about Orbital that they've been practicising jumping up and down and waving their hands in the air in time with one another.  Surely this amazing feat will put the final nail in the coffin of whether to go and see them or Stevie?

They did it for fun. Crowds love it. I could happily live without it now having seen them do it many times, or at the very least have them cut it back to just Belinda - the only bit that really sounds right with the song.

Dunno where this Miami Sound machine stuff is coming from though? Wasn't that Mylo!

You do realise they have been doing this mash up since the mid 90s...the new version though unfortunately is pretty terrible compared to what they always did before. I love the 90s-end of first era version, even with the Darkness addition...partly because the Darkness sample matches the Belinda Carlisle one perfectly and I can sing the backwards Heaven is Place on Earth nearly perfect :P

It was very amusing when watching the boys at Clapham with some of the Loopz crew who hadnt seen them yet last summer and kept coming in with the wrong shouts cos they expected the old mash up version.

Its my lasting memory of Glasto 04,  singing the tune backwards with my darling ex boyfriend with the pair of us crying our eyes out thinking we would never see them again.  :P

So does anyone else think that Orbital didn't play last year because they had already agreed to do the 40th year?

Good question but tbh, it was probably more about the big monies last year. 'We dont want to do Glasto cos its too commercial' and then they play at Global!  :P

Bit of both sounds right. New album anywhere on the horizon?

I'm sure they did the Belinda Carlisle bit to very bemused looks  :P  at a Megadog event I was privileged to attend in 1993: it's pretty long in the tooth but there's always a great crowd reaction.

I don't see any evidence of new material mooted on their own website unfortunately! Does anyone know different?

As I've seen em umpteen times can't decide whether to miss Stevie Wonder to see em again. I'll decide on the night but some new material would defo swing me the way of the Hartnolls.

Yeah they did, for a whole tour.  Thankfully they have binned it and didn't include it last year.

I actually thought the version of Halcyon they did last year on both occasions I saw them last year, was the best yet.  The hairs were standing up on the back of my neck!

I hated the Darkness version.

The wife can do that too Lucy... she ends up sounding like Galadriel. Creepy.

Orbital should start their set with "Deeper" this year. That shit is relentless.

"Take a deep breath...."

:P
