So there I was pondering the up-against-Wilco options for a less earnest way of closing out Saturday when suddenly the clouds parted and things suddenly became clear in a so-obvious-it-has-to-happen-surely kind of way:

I would utterly love, love, LOVE to see Polyphonic Spree at EotR and I know a couple of my mates who are coming along for the first time would as well. But not up against Wilco please. Can't be having that!

Agree with the box of shoes.
I'd actually be happy enough to see them headlining the Garden on Sunday.
Though, seeing as we've had I'm From Barcelona who are a tad like Polyphonic-lite, who themselves are like kiddy Flaming Lips, I'd rather go straight for the Coyne. Hopefully his nephew sent back a glowing report of this year's fest, though the sound problems for their set won't have helped matters.
(P.S. You're really a big jessie at heart, aren't you Stephenm

When I first read this, I thought you were suggesting Flaming Lips playing opposite Wilco, which would clearly be a disaster of mis-scheduling. But headlining the Sunday in the Garden? That works. Plus Wayne would have more space to do his 'trapped inside a giant hamster ball' routine. And that's important.

Polyphonic Spree - yay! One of the highlights of Glasto 2003 for me - music's nothing special, but the atmosphere they create is something else. And Flaming Lips would do it for me too

Yes, thinking about it, it would be a bit unfortunate to have the headliners playing to a dwindlin band of glum chums while the party was going on elsewhere, I absolutely see that...
And darn, remembering Sunday night at EotR2, my Plan B would hit the buffers for exactly the same reason:
