Just been pretty confirmed Muse will play next year, I only know of there Radio hits other then that I know pretty much nothing else of them. A few tracks I’ve heard (not the radio stuff) seemed a little gloomy if I’m honest but heard a little bit of there live stuff last night & it seemed more upbeat almost dancey.   What should I expect of there performance & should I get on the Muse band wagon and learn there stuff for next year?  If so where should I start as I cant be bothered to listen to every album!!!

Personally I would start from the beginning with Showbiz as I think each album from then has gone downhill, although the first 3 are all pretty good the last 2, Black Holes and Revelations and the new one, have been largely disappointing....and yet the most popular!

unfortunately they will play mostly from the most recent 2 albums. And they are utter dung.

The old stuff is ok, and they will probably play maybe 5 songs from these albums.

My favourite is Absolution. Time Is Running Out and Hysteria are on there. 2 songs they seem to always play live on tour.

Origin Of Symmetry is also great, with the likes of New Born and Plug In Baby, again tracks they seem to play live a lot.

They will play New Born, Plug in Baby, about 5 from Absolution and 1 Off Showbiz. Listen to their last two albums, if you like them watch them at glasto, if not watch whoever is on the other stage lol. I've seen them 5 times and I won't dispute they are good live, but I'm not watching them play that rubbish they have been releasing.

Pixies and Flaming Lips for Other stage during U2 and Muse please!

The latest offering isn't bad but the first 4 are better.  I don't agree that Black Holes is a bad album, in fact I think it's bloody good.

Absolution is my fave although I don't think they've made a bad one.  Absolutely fantastic live as well.

The newer the stuff the more it's played at the moment! When I saw them at the o2 (the 2nd date) They did 1 from showbiz, 2 from origin, 3 from absolution, 4 from black holes and 8 from Resistance.

Absolution is the best complete album in my opinion although no live set would be complete without new born, plug in baby (both origin of symmetry) and knights of cydonia (black holes and revelations).

Although largely the new album (as you'd expect) I'd say you'll get a good mix from all their albums, there are definitely two muses though, their earlier stuff which was pretty gritty and dark and their new stuff which is much more pop/rock. I like both and think that it's good that the band isn't tied to a single style all their career.

here's the set list form their O2 show on 12 November with albums noted:

Uprising (The Resistance)
Resistance (The Resistance)
New Born (Origin of Symmetry)
Map of the Problematique (Black Holes and Revelations)
Supermassive Black Hole (Black Holes and Revelations)
Guiding Light (The Resistance)
Interlude (Absolution)
Hysteria (Absolution)
Nishe (not on an album - but Showbiz era song)
United States of Eurasia (The Resistance)
Feeling Good (Origin of Symmetry)
Unintended (Showbiz)
Helsinki Jam (not on an album - new track for live show)
Undisclosed Desires (The Resistance)
Starlight (Black Holes and Revelations)
Plug In Baby (Origin of Symmetry)
Time Is Running Out (Absolution)
Unnatural Selection (The Resistance)

Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 1: Overture (The Resistance)
Stockholm Syndrome (Absolution)
Knights of Cydonia (Black Holes and Revelations)

I'd say that's a pretty good selection form across their career.

I would like to hear Unintended, never got that one at a show.  Really wish they would bring back Showbiz, Endlessly, and Citizen Erased, easily their best songs.  Plus Megalomania, Butterflies & Hurricanes, Con-science, etc.

There's a relatively recent live album on Spotify if I remember correctly which by definition should cover most of your needs. I like the one that sounds like Bohemian Rhapsody personally, but that's about it...

I had never really been a massive Muse fan and only really knew a few of their songs, however I went to see their first night at the O2 (my friend is a massive Muse fan) and must say that they put on one hell of a show.
Even the songs that I didnt really know didnt matter, I couldnt help but enjoy it so if they are there then I will go and see them.

Can see them droping back on the resistance a little bit for glasto, maybe add another one from each album.

Make sure you listen to citizen erased, they hardly ever play it but its an amazing song and my favourate muse track.

Defiantly got a listen to H.A.R.R.P, that should cover you live up to black holes and revolutions

IMO, Plug In Baby, Time Is Running, Knights Of Cydonia, Super Massive Black hole, uprising and undisclosed desires will be guaranteed on the setlist

BTW, The resistance is pretty good album after one or two listens you do have to take it all in and try to ignore guiding light :P

...song for song the exact same setlist as the O2 in Dublin. They need to mix it up a bit!!

Try and get hold of / youtube their glastonbury 2004 set. That was them at their best if you ask me.

(and playing their best stuff too, the later stuff isnt as good, and theres some utter drivel on thier most recent album)
