after what happened in 2000 i very much doubt it. i think it would be too much for them as a band to take

Rumour has it they'll be at Download anyway, although it would be nice to have them at Glasto.
Yeah they've played festivals since (btw Pearl Jam @ Reading was insanely good!). But I think pearlspam was on about Roskilde specifically. Really don't think they would return, it really shit them up.

yeah i was on about roskilde. i seen them at both leeds and reading a few years back and both shows rocked.
i have also heard that they might very well be playing download which kinda rules glasto out
i really do hope not because i dont wanna be having to go both festivals. would rather just save my money for the pj tour

Pearl Jam would be amazing but I don't think Eavis would book them, shame really as they are a brilliant live band.

I doubt they'll play europe next year
The entire rumour of touring next summer is based on an american radio station is giving tickets away for a 'pearl jam 2010 euro tour' and 'accommodation is provided (tent tickets will be provided if its a festival)'. But they don't provide any more info on the tour, and it seems like they're just guessing to be honest. I don't see why this one little radio station in america would get the inside word about a euro tour before everyone else. The 10club is usually pretty good and doesn't mess its fans around, if this was a true rumour I'm sure they'd at least give a hint within the next week or 2.
On the last Euro tour over the summer, they said numerous times that they won't be back for a long time (at one show Eddie specifically said early 2011). The 2009 tour wasn't even a full tour, just 4 dates + 1 theatre show. In my opinion, it seems like the 2009 tour was devised because the band didn't want to leave Europe with no shows between 2007 and 2011 since there was a massive uproar when they didn't visit between 2000-2006. A few shows so that the wait isn't so long.
So I really don't see why they're play 4 shows in Europe, say they won't be back for ages, and then return 9/10 months later...
I guess it could happen in 2010 if there was a change in the tour schedule, but it seems much more likely that they'll be here Winter/Spring 2011.

Thinking about it, if they were to play and headline the Other Stage on the Friday they would be a very good alternative to U2 and would easily get a large crowd as well. Eavis is reluctant to book them though after Roskilde though I guess which is fair enough.

Pearl Jam do have really high safety requirements for their festival shows though, doubt they'd play a stage that doesn't have a second barrier

Yeh its not so much Pearl Jam who feel that way but Eavis, I think Neil has said on here before about how he wouldn't want to feel responsible for anything happening in his "back garden" hence the lack of booking heavier bands.
Personally I don't class Pearl Jam as particularly heavy, especially compared to acts such as The Prodigy who played this year but at the same time, I'm not Michael Eavis

They'd never play the Other stage, there's no way near enough money going around for Eavis to start booking a band of Pearl Jam's calibre for the second stage.

I'd go see them as long as they did the one from the DFS sofa advert.
