Will AC/DC Play?

Looks like Sonisphere have got Rammstein and Iron Maiden. Download rumours do not seem to include AC/DC. There's been a quote in Classic Rock (I think) that they are playing festivals next summer.
Surely there must be a chance of this?

They're playing in Italy around the time of Download, so I wouldn't rule them out of playing there. I think the reason they're not rumoured for Download is that they're rumoured every year and people have just got bored of it!
With Green Day and Muse out of the running (seemiingly), I wouldn't put it past R/L fighting tooth and nail to book them, but it all depends on whether they're willing to play festivals rather than their own shows (Hyde park or MK Bowl would be an option I'd imagine) which, historicly, they haven't been.

Apparently Download's headliners are going to be Lostprophets, Pearl Jam and Van Halen. So I think we'll get AC/DC, Blink 182 and Kasabian.

I could see it,they really need a big "rock" headliner next year and IMO someone like My Chemical Romance won't do. Especially as the way it's looking the Glastonbury line-up is going to be huge next year.

From what I've read, timing will be a big issue.
They're meant to be doing about 6 weeks of european festivals starting early June, which only takes them up to mid/late July.
However, money talks, and if the organisers were allegedly prepared to chuck £2M at second-rate indie shite like The Libertines, they may be prepared to offer alot more to AC/DC, especially as it seems it could be the festival's one and only chance of bagging them.

Where did you hear that? It's a good download lineup compared to most years, not as good as last year but I'd love to see Pearl Jam again.
If Acdc, Blink and Kasabian healdined Leeds that would be cool, I would rather The Strokes than Kasabian - then it would be perfect.

Obviously it has to be taken with a pinch of salt but he claimed Rammstein and Maiden were dead certs for Soni before they were SR'd on here.

I very much doubt that ac/dc will play, given how they've said they have no interest in playing non-metal fests.

I reckon if AC/DC do any UK festivals it'll be Download, especially as they're promoting next years festival as the 30th Anniversary of rock at Donington. Seeing as V are seemingly going down the party in the park/T4 at the beach route & Download and Sonisphere are catering to the rock fans, R&L have got the monopoly on the indie/trendy market, hence why they're willing to throw £2m at w*nk like The Libertines & have Bloc Party play 2nd from top every year.

1. Lostprophets are not Metallica
2. Technically only 3 of Metallica played Download twice in three years, Lars missed 2004 due to illness which was a factor towards them playing again so soon after.
3. Metallica were supposed to headline and weren't bumped up after a bigger band dropped out/couldn't be found.
4. No one can argue Metallica's headline credibilities.
5. Regardless of how well they pulled it off, no one is clamoring for the Prophets to return to Donington as headliners.

I recon you're right but then again, money talks.
It's time for the return of Guns N Roses, or whoever Axl is playing gigs with nowadays.

Although i don't want want to get into this.. The Libertines are one of the most Critically and commercially acclaimed indie/alt bands of the past 10 years. Their reunion will be a huge draw at the festival.
AC/DC would be a good booking, but i can't see it happening.

After seeing ACDC at Wembley last summer, they really would be a a brilliant booking, even though it would unfortunatley seem more likely for them to play Download

All the rumblings I've heard point towards them playing Download.
On a different note, I have a feeling Reading might book Kiss as Sunday headliners. I know it sounds mental, but they would command a headlining slot due to the size of their live show, they're playing rock am ring and other European fests, but played download too recently and don't look like playing Soni, there arena tour dates are early may so it's feasible for them to return at the end of the summer, they're still relevant because they are still heavily referenced in pop culture (family guy, role models, rock band/guitar hero to name a few), and they've recently released an album.
I'm not even a fan of their music, but they're worth seeing live. Slipknot are supposed to be around next summer too, but Soni don't seem to have them booked (I could be wrong). I think they could well play under Kiss.
