But everyone agrees that uncouth shouty shouty white man is a massive massive  massive twat and has done nothing of musical note since his bands first album and in most peoples opinions should go live in a hole somewhere.

do they?

also, what do you mean by 'of musical note'?

let me know when Muse sell £18million copies of an album...  :P

what i meant was, the fact that without doubt it as an appauling decision to have jay Z perform as a headliner, and most people from critics to noel gallagher agreed.

I can't be bothered with the rest of it, I'm fairly certain you didn't watch Jay-Z or any of the follow-up where the self-same "critics" 180-degreed their oh-so-important positions and proclaimed it a great success.

However what I will point out is there is nothing in your statement that is 'fact', 'without doubt', or that 'most people' agreed with. You're getting your own OPINION confused with fact.  You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but don't attempt to pass it off as anything more than that fella.

Sales don't mean something is good.

Don’t really agree with the anti Mickey D’s thing, its so obvious. Ive seen a lot of modern art too over the last few years, apparently “great” artists like the Chapman Brothers etc, attack McDonalds at the drop of a hat and having anti McDonalds stuff all over their installations. BOOOORRRRRRRRRRING!!. Theyre a f**king fast food company, how bad can they be? They’re hardly Robert Mugabe are they?

Its such a flacid cocked, bog standard left wing approach to things. "Oh, lets have a go at McDonalds, the c**ts" and the same people think that they've done their bit for democracy or whatever because "McDonalds represent everything thats bad about globalisation". zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

It was more about them using the record without permission and even more so against his american label for letting it happen...

I thought most people thought on here thought most of Oasis were twats

On the subject of musical note, I mean making the same album over over and over with different lyrics.

As for sales,

According to wiki the following people have done better than oasis:

Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and Shakira so really, yes Oasis are better commercially but they are welcomed to be  a commercial success.

Also I meant it as a jokey post but it has descended into full blown argument which makes me sad :P

Yeah? I thought that was a great little set personally. You mean the not-so-secret one on the Friday night in 2008, yes? The band were handing flyers out in the Park during the day. Very friendly chaps.

Not just the Park stage, they were out on the Other Stage doing it aswell.  Didn't even notice until girls next to us asked for picture taken and I actually looked at Alex Kapronas in his little waterproof. :P

In fairness I like lot of varied music and a lot of the smaller bands I get recomendations off here and random music.

BUT I actually like Oasis.  Muse are terrible though.  Guitar riffs to a light show.

Seen as a lot of people say Oasis had 2 great albums but then haven't progressed and have recycled the same old music, then it's generally not a rant against Oasis but against their commerical success based on not having as good a music as they want?

How many bands have that many great albums in fairness?  How many "great" albums did Blur (the moral winners) release?  Not questioning Blur here, but just the fact that people hate Oasis.

There's ludicrous amount of worse bands in the world, loads of more talented bands in the world also, but the simple fact is it degenerates effectively into a "they're cool so I'll hate them as they're cool argument".  Not conciously I'd guess, as I do the exact same against all logic when certain bands become cool.  Overplaying is obviously a part of it, but it's people going on about someone makes you sick of it.

Ahh, it was only a joke - that's ok then. For a minute I actually beleived your statement about everyone agreeing that Noel Gallagher wass a massive, massive, massive twat who'd done nothing of musical note since his band's first album..

I was an Oasis fan myself, and it pisses me off all this "the first two albums were ok, and the rest were shit attitude" that a lot of people have. I don't think many of them have actually listened to the later albums, but adopt that attitude because they might look cool! You took it a step further by only mentioning Definitely Maybe as worthy of recognition. This was the reason I brought up (What's the Story?) Morning Glory's album sales. The 18million+ who bought that album would probably disagree with your statement. If it's your opinion, fair enough, you are welcome but to your opinions on N.Gallagher, but to beleive that 'everyone' is in agreement with your opinions is a little ignorant :P

Yes, that is a valid point. I've been a member here for almost 6 years, and have definitely sensed a slight dislike of Oasis. I usually grin and bear it   :P

This is true of a lot of bands (including Muse in my opinion). If you have a winning formula (that's selling a shit load of records and making you money), why change? TBH I don't think I would have enjoyed a reggae style Oasis album anyway!

Coolness has nothing to do with why I don't like Oasis, neither do Blur
