I was there too - it was onlyabout 1/3 full BUT (big but) the people who were in there were absolutely loving it - including us. We started watching another headliner (I forget who!) but ame to Cribs about halfway thru and were able to walk to the front few rows where it was jumping.

Small crowd but a fervent one :P

I was there too. Can't remember who they were up against but it was indeed a small crowd. Good set though. And now they've got JM too who would boost the numbers.

So it was my hazy memory then...

Damn that Strongbow..!

I too had the memory of it being quite full, must have been down the front with you! We started watching the enemy on the other stage but left to get a good spot for the cribs. I thought it was a great show.

I though they might headline the other stage but after the U2 announcement the goal posts have been moved and i dont think they'd be big enough to draw enough of the crowd away. Maybe they'd play second. As has been already mentioned, they work better at an indoor venue so maybe they'd headline the JP again.

To avoid a crowd control disaster they're going to have to have bigger headliners on Other and Jazzworld. Strokes could fit the bill though (though not my cuppa).

If The Strokes clashed with U2, I'd go The Strokes without a second thought!

Just thinking, Strokes Other Stage Friday, Rolling Stones Pyramid Stage Saturday......

That would be a winner for me!

i think they would maybe lose a bit of the show on the other stage, would rule the john peel though, tent would add to the atmosphere

They're definitely going to need strong headliners on both the JW and Other to thin the crowds at the Pyramid.

I personally feel sorry for those bands headlining Park, JP, Dance, Acoustic etc.  Not a hope of drawing a decent crowd with a 'big 3' on the 'big' stages.

Example last year - when Blur went off prior to their encore (seen enough - not a massive fan), mate and I nipped round to catch the end of Calvin Harris in the Dance tent - couldn't have been more than 100 people there.  It was bizarre dancing like idiots to "I'm not alone" when clearly he almost was !!

The only problem with that is although they are not similar bands I'd imagin The Strokes and U2 would attract a similar(ish) crowd. A big dance act wouldn't. :P

Surely though if you want to split the crowd, two similarish acts would be good?

By having two rock bands on, you split the rock crowd in two. If you have a dance act on the other, the audience watching would never have been at U2 anyway.

If I remember rightly it was '08 and the Cribs were up against Kings of Leon.
