Lets start a petition to get them to play some stuff like this, as the new stuff is shite.

why do we need multiple threads for everything?

I think they are self indulgent, and haven't released anything good in nearly 20 years.... they are however, one hell of a booking. Couldn't have booked anyone bigger, major crowd pleaser i would assume. I do applaud Eavis for getting them... however i don't think I'll be seeing them.

Last year we had a "Neil Young for Friday" thread and also a "Neil Young Warm Up thread", as there was for Springsteen, Blur etc. Worked very well. People posting vids opinions etc. Better than another Radiohead thread anyway.

oh ffs.

I may just let my ticket expire as I hate U2 and their fans. There is no way I can avoid them.

yep... possibly my fave U2 toon...
the trick is, when there's the 'drop' at 2' 16" (the 'squashed' riff guitar bit :P ), to turn the bass up, and wait for the band to come back

as predictable as it will be, 'One', on the Pyramid stage should be a bit of a moment :P

hate bono with a passion. most of u2's back catalogue bores me. but glasto finally geting them is a proper event and they have enough decent tunes to mean i'll be there for a wee bop.

Great News.

Only because I won't have any feelings of conflict whilst partying in Shangri-La.

Aside from the fact that they've been announced after the event sold out, meaning any U2 fans are Glastonbury fans first and foremost, how can you hate people purely on the basis on what band they like? I mean I'm not like U2 at all, but it's not like they're a White Power band or something is it!

I'm not really a fan at all, but it is a HUGE booking let's face up - up there with getting Springsteen last year.

At the moment, I probably won't see them, but it depends on who else is on, and whether my girlfriend (from Dublin) comes, as that means I'll have to go see them

I've only just heard the news about U2 and I'm over the moon about it..I really don't understand this post..what's wrong with U2 fans, why should they be seen as different to anyone else?

It's U2 at Glasto, not a U2 gig. It could be brilliant. Seen them a few times and always very good, but the Stadium gigs tended to be full of people who 'just had to see U2 once in my life' rather than music fans, or people who ACTUALLY like them. Hopefully Bono won't be TOO over the top, as this is the main point that grates with most.
