I know its late but Ive only really just made it back to eFestivals. I am wondering who saw Peter Doherty at Glastonbury 2009 and what they thought?
It was the first time I had actually managed to see Doherty live, in a band or solo. I had been a massive Libertines, Babyshambles and Doherty fan. I have to admit I was unsure of what his vocal's would be like live though. I was absolutly blown away as were the people I saw him with his vocals were so perfect and strong was really really impressed sent many chills down my spine.
Im not too sure what sort of state he was in though, it was shortly after he had been arressted for drink driving and posession of heroin and was ordered to be fitted with a anti-heroin implant so I dont know if he had, had that done by the show but he he didnt look too well, headbutting the microphone as he came out, dropping the microphone and playing the guitar while someone was chasing him trying to plug it in, and the set was fairly short. Cant blame someone for being elsewhere if their potentially facing more jail time though and had withdrawls to look forward too....
Was definitly one of my highlights of the week I hope to see him lots more!

I ... was about to post a rather scathing and sarcastic response, but given that you are a newbie here Fimble I will not.
Each to their own.

I've seen him play quite a few times and sometimes he's spot on other times he's bloody awful, you never know what you're going to get. The shows I've seen in the past year have generally been much better than when i first started going to his gigs a few years ago though

massive fan of Peter, and all his work. Glastonbury was an amazing performance,( and it's all on Youtube by someone called 'Imaginary Crime'.) also saw him at V, and was even better, the crowd were immense!
To be fair i don't think he was on anything at Glasto and especially not at V, but it doesn't really matter (Damon Albarn didn't look all there either!)
You should definately try to catch him again though, if your around the London area, babyshambles are playing tomorrow night for only £12.50!

I actually fell asleep during his set, not a fan to begin with but generally I'll give an act a chance, literally fell sleep and woke up just as his set ended, it was a refreshing set but for the wrong reasons

Ahhhhh I really want to catch him at one of these little London gigs he seems to spontaneously does, I wont be able to go to that one because of money. Whats the best way of finding out about these gigs as far in advance as possible? FrenchDogBlues never seems to have much going on, on the site. Yeah I live like a 20 minute train journey into London, I was dissapointed to see Babyshambles official tour has no London date.........
Thanks for the information though!

The forum of FDB always has info, some of the band and their management post on their as well. On facebook look at Adam Ficek and Lazy Eye Management's pages

Thought I'd give him a chance and was really glad I did.
Like someone mentioned previously, he's always a bit hit and miss but he was outstanding at Glastonbury this year.

I saw him in march and he was absolutely fantastic. He played solo for 2 and a half hours and was absolutely mindblowing. At glasto i thought he was alright but seemed worse for wear, and for his scheduled gig at the Queen's head it was announced he had cancelled, but then he came on and was so f!cked he couldn't stand

He was outstanding in 2008 when he was on his own, this year he was okay! not brilliant though. Then i saw him on his tour, smoking on stage, still playing while they turned the lights off and cut him off etc etc.. AMAZING. In all honesty I think he'll be with the shambles!

I thought he was really good at Glastonbury this year. He didn't seem at all drunk or out-of-it like he's done when i've seen him in the past.
The Q daily review said he seemed wasted, but I reckon they just made it up because that's what people want/expect to read.

I saw his full set this year and was very impressed by him. Musically he was bang on. He was not one bit wasted for him. Me and my wife both kinda was looking forward him being wasted, its half the fun

missed him this year, saw him with babyshambles at reading last yearr, think he was class!
Can see him playign with babyshambles next year, possibly other stage headliners? aren't they supposed to be releasing an album before then?
And am I the only one who thinks Babyshambles are actually better than the libertines?

I walked past the Other Stage when I went on one of my many wanders, when he was on. He didn't seem to know where he was or what time of day it was!
