Throwing Bottles at Glasto

Went to see the Specials in Margate last weekend and as soon as they launched into their first song I was covered in pints of beer. Didnt mind that at all, drinkable liquid I can handle but full bottles whether they be plastic or glass are unnacceptable as far as I'm concerned.
Friend of mine went to V for the first time last year and got a full can of beer to the head. Ended up with a cartoon egg on her head and a nice black eye. She wont ever go to another festival again.

i've never seen any bottle throwing at glasto though.

I haven't seen it at the stages, but I did see a bus pelted with bottles and cans last year on the Saturday night, which I posted about at the time.
Absolutely no need, and no excuses.

Back on topic:
Yes I can confirm I DID see bottle throwing at Glasto this year.
I've never seen this at Glasto before but this year for the first time I witnessed 2 or 3 incidents.
Specifically at Pyramid Stage during Kasabian. Just to clarify it wasn't bottle throwing at the band but idiots throwing open bottles of beer up into the air to shower out on those within range! And worse still. Plastic pint glasses which may have been urine if not flat beer!
Thankfully it was minimal and nothing like the mass amount of drink throwing you see at Stadium gigs
(Oasis @ Wembley this year was one of the worst I've ever witnessed in 15 years of following Oasis, and by coincidence Kasabian were support)
Also for The Specials in same area near front of Pyramid Stage (I'm talking within the inner D prob 30 metres from stage) I witnessed a group of 6 or 7 males in late teens shake up cans of beer, holler all yobbish like and shake the beer up into the air showering several people within range and one of them chucking the near empty can up into the air.
At the time I felt half infuriated but also half WTF they high spirited having their fun. I was in 2 minds to approach them just to say calm down lads kinda of thing but as big group & me on my own I let it pass in case it stirred up trouble.
I did relay my encounters to several fellow eFesters (inc L/Lucy, TSU & others) and I'm not the only one to have noticed the behaviour of "misbehaving yobbish lads" creep into Glastonbury this year where only in 2007 & 2008 I saw no sign of these kind of incidents.
I'll continue to go to Glastonbury & in the future will somehow help combat bottle & drink throwing if I can. But it has put me off a tad. Even more so than all the flags near the front which I can tolerate more so than morons who chuck bottles & pint glasses!

timespeedsup, on Nov 11 2009, 10:32 PM, said:Yep. I was disappointed. If someone is swamped in crowd near the front & has to take a piss, then fair enough. I wouldn't do it myself, but I can understand rather than wet your pants it's an emergency piss into a plastic bottle or plastic pint cup. But for f**k sake don't lob the offending container into the air.HSC was at Kasabian and was apparently disappointed with the throwing of (plastic) bottles of piss. IIRR.
Disclaimer: during Kasabian at Glasto this year, I can't say for sure if the liquid that sprayed out was urine or flat beer.
And more than once I saw plastic bottles & plastic pint cups with liquid go flying through the air.
But I know at outdoor Oasis concerts I have been sprayed, whilst mostly beer chucked, well into the set it has definitely maybe, been urine!! (pun intended!)

General rule - if the liquid is cold it's not so bad, it's when it's warm you have to worry

LOL!
I know that rule.
..That is how I know what I've been showered with at Oasis concerts!
For Kasabian at Glasto this year, I only saw the plastic containers fly through the air. I didn't actually get hit by a missle nor did I get any 'Golden Showers'

Will be avoiding kasabian in the future
I've got a bad habit getting covered in beer at gigs. got so soaked at the camden crawl i had to go home and have a shower after getting hit by a full pint while photoing the whip before going back to watch echo and the bunnymen.

My wife was unfortunate enough to be taking photos for eFestivals at the time -a lot of the stuff hit her

Sorry to hear that. I guess people forget that most of the time they're pelting the security and pit crew rather than the band themselves. She could put that on her CV though if she ever thought about working for Time magazine
EDIT: Can i just point out that i didn't throw any bottles and so I can definitely say I didn't hit your wife .... just incase we ever meet

Without wanting to be a 'glasto snob' the day people winging bottle start coming en masse to Glasto, is the day i stop going. had the misfortune of going to V this year, and this was a common occurence. lots of being time charlies having their big large weekend. music is secondary for them. look at me winging a bottle is more important.

i was down front for qotsa at reading in 05 and as soon as they started the first song there was ahuge surge and i was carried a good 15ft with the crowd and a cup fill of warm golden liquid hit me square in the face spraying all over those next to me.
the guy next to me said "that's way too warm to be beer mate" and we both just bust out laughing and just got on with it.
once it dried you could tell it was beer as it smelled of,........ beer! not piss which has an unmistakable pissy smell
beer tends to go warm when held in yur hands in the sun and hence why it's usually thrown, because you cant be arsed to drink warm flat beer.
if all warm liquid being thrown was piss all you would see around you at gigs would be peoiple pissing into cups/bottles which i have only ever seen twice at the obscene amount of festivals/gigs i've been to over the years and both times the people doing it placed the cup at their feet.
people love to exagerate and claim it's piss as it makes for a better story or a better complaint but it rarely is.

It was definately piss that used to get thrown around in the gallon bottles at monsters of rock. And you knew about it when one hit you.

Didn't there used to be a competition at metal gigs for the weirdest thing that could be thrown on stage? Remember my brother in law saying he saw someone chuck a severed pig's head on to the stage during motorhead one year. It's also how Ozzy ended up biting the head off a live bat and having 2 weeks of rabies injections, someone threw it and he was too wasted to know it wasn't fake.
