We're doing the opposite. Have camped ever since the beginning (first went to Shepton Mallet in 69 so that dates me) but next year will be taking a trailer tent for the first time. However we'll also take a small tent which we'll pitch in our usual spot in the Big Ground with all our friends we meet up with.
You can still have all your creature comforts if you camp but the more you take the more you have to lug so get or build yourself a decent trolley (plenty of trolley threads on here) and be prepared for a long hike from the car park to your camping spot.
A carefully put up tent and a decent double airbed, even if you're going solo, should ensure a good night's sleep. Table and chairs make for comfortable eating / sitting around and putting the world to rights.
