Me to. First time 09 in a motorhome - next year going to take a tent and experience a bit more. I am a wee bit worried though cos I am not exactly a teenager anymore and have never camped before. Am i too old and used to my comforts? Will I be able to rough it? The upside is I wont have to stress about the security deposit and the motorhome and just relax.

We're doing the opposite.  Have camped ever since the beginning (first went to Shepton  Mallet in 69 so that dates me) but next year will be taking a trailer tent for the first time.  However we'll also take a small tent which we'll pitch in our usual spot in the Big Ground with all our friends we meet up with.

You can still have all your creature comforts if you camp but the more you take the more you have to lug so get or build yourself a decent trolley (plenty of trolley threads on here) and be prepared for a long hike from the car park to your camping spot.

A carefully put up tent and a decent double airbed, even if you're going solo, should ensure a good night's sleep.  Table and chairs make for comfortable eating / sitting around and putting the world to rights.

I found my second festival to be my best.

The first you are lead round by your nose by your more knowledgeable mates and you never really get over the scale of the site, also as my first year was 2007 the weather really did not help, not that I did not have a good time.  In fact by the time I got back home I was planning for the next year, and when 2008 rolled around I knew more about Glastonbury than my mates who have been going for years.

I think some things are luck, in 2008, only the advanced party me and one mate turned up on the Wednesday, camped next to a great bunch of locals who we are still in touch with, and things just snowballed from there, hard to believe that year will ever be beaten for me.

Noticed the above post, yes I must see a sunrise too, how is something so straight forward, just walk up the hill at about 05.30AM (approx), seem so hard to achieve, always one the these things happen:
  • Peaked to soon wasted spannered unconscious in tent by 3.00AM
  • Going mental, throwing shaping and look round, oh it is morning.

It's my second Glasto next year, 2009 being my 1st. What did all you first timers learn in 2009 that you will be doing next year? For me it's not taking so many clothes, took far too many which just took up valuable alcohol space!

My second time too.

I will be taking a lot more spirits than the first year when I ended up with purely warm beer!

Also I am going to try to ensure that I spend a lot more time away from the main stages. I didn't even go near the Green Fields etc last time.
