My friend lost her purse around the second day with her cards and a fair bit of cash in it

Reported it to Lost Property but thought she would not see it again.

Today the purse arrived at home with a cheque for the exact amount of cash she lost and a lovely
note from the team at Lost Property

It's great that the Lost Property people do their job well, but the real kudos has to go to the folks who make the effort to hand in those valuable things in the first place - purses, wallets, phones etc.

In any other place that would have really surprised me, but it's very fitting with the atmosphere and the people I met whilst at Glasto, so I'm not that shocked.  Still a nice happy story though.

Glad she had better luck than me!

I got an email a few days ago saying they were sorry they had been unable to pair me up with my lost phone. :P

Whoever had my phone made calls to my ex and told him jokes at around 3am, but then also called back the numbers I had been ringing it from the following afternoon, but i missed the calls. It seemed they were trying to get in contact with me but I wish they wud have just handed it in!

Yeah that's true, the guy probably didn't trust lost property. My mate lost his phone at Reading once and thank god the person who found it called one of us to meet them, from the attitude of the lost property people I very much doubt handing it in would have meant its safe return. Glastonbury is in the minority for festivals in this way, I believe.

I seemed to remember someone once posting that they had lost their phone , they rang it and gave
the thief an earful to be told.

"I am part of the lost property team and I am looking after your phone ! "

That's great!  I don't understand the part about the cheque though, did they replace the lost cash or did they put the money into a bank account and write a cheque because it was more secure?

They are indeed fabulous. One Sunday we were doing a car-run and realised obviously too late that a large bag had dropped off our trolley. It was full of various stuff, including a glass bottle of vodka and one of Southern Comfort (yes we hadn't drunk them and yes we should not have had them)... and we missed a chunk of the afternoon climbing the hill above Morrissey onstage to report our loss.

Imagine our surprise a month or three later when -apart from the booze, understandably- the entire bag arrived back, posted at considerable cost to us from Glastonbury Festival Lost Property!!

We thanked them by email (no reply) and made a donation to Water Aid.
