Just seen these two added to the rumours page (Green Day seem like an out of the blue rumour, is it just because of the Wembley dates?) What are peoples thoughts?
Im thinking Cribs get a good billing on the Other Stage while Green Day, if they were to play, would presumably have to headline Pyramid?

We've had info about The Cribs. We're trying to find out more.
Green Day have been added because Eavis has said they want to play, tho he's not sure they're the sort of band he wants.
Currently, there's nothing to get too excited about.

Ah yes just saw the thread with Eavis' quotes on Green Day and the like, I suppose they would be more suited to Reading/Leeds or maybe Download and Sonisphere but it's good to know he's not ruling anything out. I don't particularly like Green Day but they would be a big addition to the bill as long as it didn't mean someone better couldn't play!
Glad The Cribs are a possibility.

I saw them supporting the Sex Pistols once (before I really even knew who they were) and they were awful i thought. However, since I've seen they've been nominated for loads of live awards and the like, so they might be worth a second chance from me

The Cribs is a good shout.
Apparently Green Day have been playing 3-hour sets this tour. Not sure Glastonbury could stomach that much of them...

I fainted watching The Cribs at the John Peel Stage in 2008.
I Flipped a coin cos I couldn't choose between them and KOL
Ended up going to see The Cribs...
and it was so crazy in that tent it was untrue.
Most people in the tent seemed to be from Yorkshire.
I was rather drunk and passed out halfway through the set,
had to be dragged over the barrier from security.
oooops haha
Green Day would be decent I reck.
Would love it if Glasto got them and they didn't do Reading/Leeds
It would piss so many people off haha

The Cribs are the worst band in the history of music....

OMG!!! I would die of happiness if Green Day played. I am actually literally going to go write a little begging letter to Sir Eavis right now (:
Oh my, if they play and I don't get a re-sale ticket I will have to kill myself.

My two-penneth on Green Day.
Decent punk band originally and good live. Seen them live maybe 4 times earlier in their career. Not really been that impressed with their output from Warning onwards and live they are now just a parody of themselves. I for one agree with Mr Eavis that they really aren't a Glastonbury type act.

I'm not sure on the Jay-Z thing. Glasto is a melting pot of differing types of music and performing arts and Hip Hop seems to always be under-represented. I think if anything, having a successful Hip Hop artist headlining one of the big stages was probably a bit overdue. I'd have gone to see the set and would go if he played again. Wouldn't be arsed about Green Day though.

Isn't that a contradiction from your last post then?
You can't say they aren't a Glastonbury band and then say "Glasto is a melting pot of different music"?
To be honest although I check this site more or less everyday, I don't mind who headlines as long as they put on a good show/there's a good alternative on.

Yeah, didn't make my point well.
I didn't mean that Green Day's music wasn't suitable for Glastonbury because by definition anything is. I meant that they've become a mainstream arena rock act used to playing big arena gigs with a full entourage to a packed house of adoring teenage Green Day devotees. I don't think that this would translate well to a slot at Glastonbury. By the same measure, I think that U2, Bon Jovi and others that have been mooted also wouldn't come across well.
