Green Day have a show in Paris on the Saturday. So that rules them out for that day.

If Green Day are playing paris on the Saturday then a headline slot would not be possible. So maybe lower down the bill???
A young person's band for me is Muse or Arctic monkeys, didn't ME say something when they last headlined the Pyramid about them being a young persons band???

One of them was that there would be a move away from the usual traditional old person headliner on the Sunday. The sunday would be a "young persons band". Knowing Eavis, that could mean anything though, as his interpretation of a young persons band might differ from ours.
2012 is the next year off apparently. I assume that isn't news.
He wouldn't deny U2 are playing
Green Day have asked to play, but he doesn't think they are a Glastonbury band. He's not ruled it out totally, and he enjoyed their show at Wembly Arena.
Sunday 5pm slot is someone really big but he wouldn't say who. He did mention is passing, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner though.
So nothing concrete, except the stuff on Green Day, but interesting all the same.
Bloody Hell...Tina Turner...They better strengthen up the stage, and move the barrier at least 5 meters back, you wouln't want to be caught in them thighs would you. Of the two i would prefer Whitney Houston as Tina is way past it now, although i doubt i would bother to see either. I am sure ME just plays with your mind, with all his little hints. he's sold out so has no reason to say anything till well into next year

Its a long shot but . . . Mr Tumble played Camp Bestival last year so he probably can't be ruled out at this stage

In a world of 40 year old teenagers into the latest kool indie and hip-hop, and kids getting heavily into Nick Drake, Old soul, prog rock and ABBA, what on earth is he on about? These days it can mean anyone from Elvis, through Led Zep, via the Bee Gee upto Lilly Allen, Jay-z, Muse or the Artic Monkeys!

Went to see Green Day at Wembley on Sunday night and they put on a stadium sized show. I enjoyed the gig and they seemed genuinely pleased with the english crowd.
Did 2 and a half hours on stage and didn't stop running and jumping about. I think they've been watching ACDC live videos.
Half way through we saw an "entourage" of well dressed guys with security walk through behind the mixing desk and one of the group looked like Robert Plant - although none of them looked like Michael Eavis.

The only time I've seen Eavis at a gig was at The NME tour featuring The Killers, Futureheads, Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs in Bristol. He didn't have an entourage, he was just a pretty normal punter. It was also noted that he didn't wash his hands when he went to the toilet.
He told my friend that he was at Green Day the other night, and was impressed with the show. He didn't really think they were a Glastonbury type of band though. Make of that what you will.

I'm telling you it's going to be Ash.

didnt they just tour really small venues and not sell out?
id love to see ash again but theyve had their prime and i doubt theyd be anywhere near the top, theyd be perfect for a mid afternoon sunshine slot though
edit: theyre still on tour, only a few gigs sold out but the venues arent exactly big...

I'd have gone to see Ash if they'd have done a gig a bit closer to where I live but the nearest were Bradford/Wakefield or Carlisle and I dont do Carlisle for personal reasons

I'm 34, so wouldn't count myself as young, but my musical taste runs from Motown, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix through to Flornece and the Machine, La Roux and Dead Weather - with a hell of a lot inbetween.
I realise that Mr Eavis is almost politician-esque in his ability to answer questions whilst not actually answering them, but that's a classic.
lol. maybe we'll get Cliff Richard singing The Young Ones.
hey, might not be so bad after all!

Yes they did they were bumped up the line up on the Sunday because Stevie Winwood was ill. Kula Shaker were also bumped up to replace Neil Young in second slot.
